The Accommodation
Do you have any comments about the accommodation and food?
The change in accommodation for the last two days of the ride was a great advantage for us, as our final night was spent in a most comfortable and relaxing establishment which was far more suited to a last night. All other places of rest were perfectly acceptable, the showers were always hot and the beds were of mixed comfort but always adequate.
The food was amazing, we enjoyed wonderful picnic lunches every day. Fresh locally produced foods transported to our remote location each day, along with fresh water and wine was always gratefully received, well done to our hosts.
Evening meals in our accommodation were varied, interesting, tasty and most satisfying.

How could we improve the quality of pre-holiday information that we send?
Essential I found the pre-holiday information to be perfectly adequate. The riding was great, but not suitable for the faint hearted, on the final day we rode up and around a crater on Mount Etna, an amazing experience but it was very windy and this did make us all feel a little apprehensive. However Alex took good care of us, studying the weather & conditions in advance, and we all managed the challenge without incident.
How could we improve the way we handled your booking and payment?
I have been quite happy with the way in which my booking and payment have been handled. I was given thoughtful advice regarding the choice of ride to do, and the information about local transport in Sicily, I took the bus from Catania to Palermo was most useful. In fact even though I arrived earlier at the bus terminal before my trip was due to depart, I was able to take the first coach available.
Do you have any other feedback for us?
A fabulous holiday, it exceeded expectations, I was very fortunate to be joined by five other riders who all shared a spirit of adventure and fun. It would be fair to say that we became good friends during the week. Now I am looking forward to planning my next trip with In the Saddle.

Sue who has been on 2 In The Saddle rides. A wonderful, challenging trip riding through every changing and amazing scenery. | This ride was tremendous fun and I throughly enjoyed the challenge. Sicily has a varied landscape and as a result the riding was quite tough at times. The pace was varied, steady and sometimes fast, but I did not feel unsafe at any time. The horses are very fit and completely suited to the terrain, they are sure footed and managed the rough and rocky going, including steep ascents and descents, with confidence. Our guides, Lizzie and Alex took good care of everyone, riders and horses alike and their knowledge of the area made the experience interesting and informative. My horse, Alba was a perfect match for me, so another plus for ‘Ride Sicily’.
