The Accommodation
Do you have any comments about the accommodation and food?
Sleeping under the stars is always a special experience, especially the huge desert skies, although there is always the option of a tent if you prefer. We spend a few nights at a static camp which was very comfortable and a luxury to have a little cabin-style 'tent', proper showers and toilets, but personally I would have preferred a couple more nights sleeping out.
The food was delicious and felt quite healthy - lots of cucumber and tomato salads, hummus and flatbreads. We had long relaxed stops for lunch and a siesta in the heat of the day and shorter rest breaks while on the ride as well.
Before Your Holiday
Did you have all of the information you needed to:
How could we improve the quality of pre-holiday information that we send?
I think the trip notes said there were no saddle bags but this must have changed as we did all have saddle bags and were given a 500ml bottle of water at the start of the ride which could be refilled throughout the trip (at breakfast and lunchtime) and carried in the saddle bag. You could take your own water bottle if you wanted.
How could we improve the way we handled your booking and payment?
None
Do you have any other feedback for us?
I really enjoyed the trips to Petra (a long day), and to the Dead Sea and Mount Nebo. We had a lovely driver on that last day who was very kind and helpful, as were all the Jordanians.
Tam who has been on 23 In The Saddle rides. Fast riding through fabulous desert scenery on beautiful forward-going Arabian horses and sleeping under vast starlit skies. | The horses are spirited, as you would expect of Arabs, and some are surprisingly young but well trained. The riding is fast at times (depending on the terrain), in wide open spaces and you are not riding in a controlled line - which is why it's fun, of course - so you need to be a confident rider and aware of other horses around you.
