Based at Equus Silvania you ride out each morning before returning to the guesthouse for a warming lunch. Ride up into the forests surrounding Equus Silvania and experience the views across to snow-capped peaks in the distance. In the afternoon you may wish to ride again or simply relax in front of a fire.
Mid-week you have a rest from riding. You’ll either visit Sibiu, dating back to the 12th Century, the castle at Bran which is at the centre of the Dracula myth or Sighisoara. Sighisoara is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the best examples of a medieval fortified town.
The horses at Equus Silvania are a selection of part-Lipizzaner, Arab and Shagya-Arab, Kisberi, Gidran and Hungarian Sport Horses. The horses are fit and responsive, with stamina for the mountains. The riding is a mix of paces to suit the terrain and weather conditions.
The horses are forward going and the pace may be fast at times so this ride is not for nervous or novice riders. To get the most from this holiday you must be confident handling a horse in open spaces at all paces. All the horses have good stamina and are used to mountains.
Hard hats are mandatory on this ride.
Equus Silvania has a modern guesthouse (ski chalet style) with nine bedrooms, each with its own private shower room. If you are not prepared to share a room then a single supplement is payable.
Downstairs, there is a dining room, a large living room and a bar. The guesthouse has a modern wood central heater. There is also a veranda, where you can sit outside and relax. Please note that the chalet also accepts bed and breakfast guests, (including young children) who join the riding guests at meal times.
There is also wireless internet connection at Equus Silvania.
Additional dates may be possible on request - please ask for details.

Wonderfull week, which in all ways exceeded my expectations. The hosts are friendly, service minded and skilled. There is control over all details and a nice atmosphere, where you can easily relax when you do not ride. The chef makes good homemade food and the food is generally top notch (for example, there is free access to wine). The horses are well behaved and fit, and you one can sense that they are well taking care of.
