Botswana - Okavango Mobile Safari

David leads a mobile safari unlike any other in this area. This is the only mobile camping safari available in the magical Okavango Delta.
Rather than a permanent riding camp, a lightweight mobile camp is transported by a flotilla of mokoros (traditional dugout canoes) poled by members of the local community, who live on the fringes of the Delta and know it intimately. When the water levels are too low for the mokoros to navigate, a train of pack donkeys (from the local community) takes over.

No vehicles are involved during this safari, and this, along with working in partnership with the local community, guarantees a genuinely environmentally-friendly safari.

These rides are usually guided by David Foot, who has over 25 years of experience leading safaris throughout southern and central Africa.

The emphasis of this safari is the experience, the loveliness of the Delta and the feeling of being at one with the bush and it's inhabitants. This is the perfect safari for those wishing to avoid the 'glamping' permanent camps, and is ideal for those looking for a simpler experience, allowing you to get down to basics alongside Africa's nature, and journey through the Delta on horseback, riding from camp to camp and cooking over open fires.

Please Note: This safari is usually guided by David Foot - although we are unable to guarantee this. On rare occasions an alternative lead guide may be your host.

This safari is perfect for those wanting the simpler African experience with 'no frills', you just need a spirit of adventure!
My top tip:
Pack lightly to have the digital detox experience this unique safari offers. Or make this a longer trip and combine this trip with Davids five night ride in the Kalahari.
