Spain - Sierra Nevada Short Break

The terrain and horses are as described on the Sierra Nevada ride page.

On the Poqueira short break, you stay four nights in the comfortable Casa la Sevillana in the small village of Bubion. The village is quiet and charming and boasts some very nice little restaurants and small bars, perfect for a relaxing evening.

On the Sulayr short break you have the first two nights in Bubion, then on your second day of riding you set off on a trail ride to Trevelez, the highest village in Spain. After a night in Trevelez, you ride back to Bubion by a different route.

The diversity of bridle-paths and forest tracks allows you in three days to explore many of the more inaccessible ravines and valleys of this mountainous region. From the high summer pastures and streams fed by the snow melt of the Mulhacen, down to the whitewashed villages in the valleys.

The routes are planned that you ride over totally different terrain each day. One day you follow small paths high into the mountains, with spectacular views on a clear day of the Mediterranean in one direction and the highest peaks on the other. On other days you take slightly lower routes where the many forest tracks allow for a faster pace.

The perfect way to get away from it all and enjoy fantastic mountain riding for a few days.

My top tip:

The sun can be very strong in summer so make sure you have long sleves to guard against sunburn.
