Tsylos (pronounced sigh-loss) Park Lodge is located at the north end of Chilko Lake, the gateway to Ts’il-os Provincial Park.
The Park was established in January 1994 and comprises approximately 233,000 hectares of rugged mountains, clear blue lakes, glaciers, alpine meadows, and waterfalls. It is bordered by the rugged peaks of the Coast Mountains to the west, and the dry Interior Plateau to the east. Chilko Lake, the largest natural high-elevation freshwater lake in Canada, dominates the park.
Chilko Lake is popular with boaters, kayakers and anglers. Backcountry hiking and camping is also a cornerstone of the recreational opportunities offered by this remote park. Guests can base themselves at the main lodge in comfortable en-suite cabins or rooms and explore the hidden valleys, waterfalls and creeks of the Coast Range.
You should be at least an intermediate rider; happy at walk, trot and canter. At times it is necessary get off and lead the horses on foot. Riders are expected to care for their horse (catching, grooming and tacking up) but help is always on hand should you need it.
The rides will start off slowly, but once the wranglers are happy that everyone is comfortable with their horses you will be able to enjoy some faster riding.
The Tsylos herd is made up of Quarter Horses, Arabs, Appaloosas, Paints, Draft and Thoroughbred horses, ranging from 14hh to 16hh.
The tack and riding is Western style.
