Tanque Verde resort ranch offers a wide variety of activities in addition to horseback riding. This makes it a great option for families or groups of mixed ability, or there are a mixture of riders and non riders. Riding is available every day, both walking rides for beginners and loping (cantering) rides for more experienced riders. On certain days, there are also all-day rides as well as breakfast cookout rides.
The ranch has tennis courts, mountain biking, nature walks, landscape painting, indoor and outdoor pools, a separate children’s pool, and an exercise room. Basketball, volleyball and fishing are available and there is a nearby championship golf course. A jacuzzi and sauna provide the perfect way to relax after an active day. Or you can really indulge yourself at La Sonora Spa which offers soothing massage and body treatments (payable locally).
The guided walks offer the opportunity to experience the plants and animals of the Sonoran Desert. The ranch naturalists even provide special programmes that allow guests to see some of the desert animals close up.
Tanque Verde is suitable for all levels of rider. The tack is Western.
Beginners and novice riders will ride at a walk. More experienced riders have their own group and can join the lope rides. There are morning and afternoon rides plus occasional day rides.
Riding lessons for beginners or more experienced riders are available daily and are included in the rate.
Children aged between four and eleven have their own kids' club with a riding programme.
The ranch riding programme office is open each afternoon so that guests may sign up for activities the next day. There are usually two trail rides in the morning and another in the afternoon, with a half day or day ride (depending on the season) once a week. A breakfast ride is also offered on some days, as is team penning.
There are 74 authentically decorated en-suite rooms at Tanque Verde which are fully air-conditioned and offer desert or mountain views. The rooms are scattered over a hillside offering plenty of peace and quiet. Some have adobe fireplaces and outside private patios.
Open all year. No set arrival or departure days.

Great experience, the rides, horses and wranglers were great. The horses were very forward going and great scenery!

Particularly good winter getaway destination as pretty much guaranteed sun!
