Castle Leslie lies in Co. Monaghan within easy reach of Dublin and Belfast. It is one of the few remaining Irish estates still owned and run by its founding family. The family involvement extends to all aspects of the hotel creating a personal, relaxed and very welcoming atmosphere.
In addition to the 20 miles of bridleways and 300 jumps, there is an indoor arena and an all weather gallops.
Non-riders can relax and enjoy a stroll around the estate and nearby there is some great golf and fishing.
Normally Castle Leslie accept all levels of rider but due to the pandemic, currently only intermediate and experienced riders can be accommodated.
Your riding programme will be tailored to your riding experience and wishes and can include instruction, hacking out over the estate, show jumping and cross-country jumping.
The programme includes three hours of riding per day so if you are staying four nights you will have a total of 12 hours of riding throughout your holiday.
There are around 25 horses including Irish sport horses, draught horses, thoroughbreds and ponies.
Due to the pandemic, Castle Leslie are only accepting Children over ten years old, who are confident cantering in open spaces.
Hard hats are mandatory. Your hat must have either: PAS 2015:1998 or 2011 or Snell E2001 with the official Snell label and number or ASTM 1163. If you are doing cross country jumping then you will also need to wear a body protector that meets BETA 2009 Level 3 standards. We also recommend you wear a body protector when you are show jumping and riding around the estate but this is not mandatory.
For cross-country jumping your hat must not have a fixed peak. The centre has hats and a selection of body protectors to lend but for a proper fit we recommend you take your own properly fitted hat and body protector.
The accommodation is normally in the Lodge but on occasions may be in the Castle.
The Lodge is situated adjacent to the Equestrian Centre, perfectly located for those who wish to explore the countryside and parkland on horseback. It's also the social hub of the Estate and brings locals and guests together to enjoy the restaurant and bar. The 29 rooms and the stable courtyard have been lovingly restored and reflect many period features and original character.
The Castle is at the heart of the Estate and offers authentic original interiors. The Castle is not a typical hotel experience - each room is different, there are no televisions, radios, wifi or minibars in the Castle bedrooms.
It is possible for friends or family groups to stay in either the Old Stable Mews or one of the Village Cottages for almost the same price.
The Old Stable Mews is a 15 minute walk or five minute drive from the Lodge. This is a former coach house which has been restored to provide two bedroom apartments. The Mews riding package price is based on a minimum of two people sharing an apartment.
The Village Cottages are a five minute walk from the Lodge. Each cottage has three to five bedrooms. The Cottage riding package price is based on a minimum of four people sharing a cottage.
Normally open all year round with arrivals and departures on any day. However Covid-19 restrictions in 2021 may limit opening days.
The availability chart below may show availability when there is none and so please always email email@example.com and we will get back to you to confirm availability for your preferred dates.

The Castle Leslie estate lies to the north of the Republic of Ireland near to the border with Northern Ireland. It is about two hours drive from Dublin or Belfast.
The weather in Ireland is similar to that in the rest of the British Isles, although it is probably more likely to rain (that's why it's so green!) and so you should always be prepared with a good quality raincoat.
Plan to dress in layers, particularly in late spring and autumn, when you might enjoy a glorious sunny day followed by one which is rather more wintry.
Excellent all round. Fabulous staff. The riding started well within our capabilities (3 of us ranging in experience from 50 years to non at all!) and ended with challenges, it was wonderful and we hope to repeat it. Altogether one of our best holidays. I thought it was brilliant. Dealt meainly with Hannah. Personal and efficient. All the information was accurate. This quality of service is unusual these days.

Some of the bedrooms at the Lodge look down over the stables which is a lovely sight first thing.
There is a very spacious indoor arena and so your riding can continue whatever the weather.
