The Round Ups take place in the north and south of Iceland and you will witness the farmers bringing their animals down from the mountains before winter sets in. Hours in the saddle can be long and the rides are usually highly sociable as all the local farmers gather to assist. Some of the Sheep Round Ups can be more challenging in terms of the riding, guest participation and accommodation.

West of Madrid these trail rides explore the mountains of Castile and Leon. This undiscovered region of Spain boasts a friendly welcome, lovely horses, stunning views and amazing tapas. Plus of course the beautiful Gredos Mountains.

Tsylos Lodge is located at the north end of Chilko Lake where the turquoise blue waters are fed by glacial streams and surrounded by majestic peaks. This is one of the most impressive areas in British Columbia. A wilderness land of log cabins and wood smoke; horses and bears; slower time zones and a never empty coffee pot.

There is a good chance of snow at this time of the year so hopefully you will find yourself riding in a winter wonderland. Centre based, you ride out each morning, returning to the guesthouse for a warming lunch.

This is a winter riding holiday with lots of other activities including snowmobiling and reindeer sledding. To make it really special, one night is spent in the famous Ice Hotel 150km north of the Arctic Circle.

The Highland Trails vary from two to seven nights, taking you away from everyday life and into the highlands of Iceland. Accommodation is in guesthouses or farmhouses, with made up beds, so provide a more comfortable adventure for those not wishing to pack a sleeping bag. Some of the trails are suitable for intermediate riders and above, whilst others require a more experienced rider.

The shorter rides are great as a stand alone short break, or work well as part of a longer stay in Iceland.
