Ride Report

View Ride     Rebecca Clarke

This is a six night ride through the forests and hills of Swedish Lapland. The ride is a great opportunity to learn more about the Sami culture and reindeer herding in the North. Whether you have ridden Icelandic horses before or not, this ride is also a great introduction to the breed.

To be able to enjoy the week you need to be self-sufficient, relaxed and able to ‘go with the flow’. Since the weather can have a large impact on each day, routes are often not confirmed in advance and timings are very flexible. Since most of the summer has 24hr daylight you are not limited by time. This is a participatory trip and so it’s up to the group to collect firewood, cook, set up lunch spots, wash-up, tack-up and care for the horses.

You can read my full blog here from when I joined a group back in July 2019.
