Ride Report
In May 2017 I visited Castellare di Tonda and joined a four night short break.
What I think is great about Castellare is that there are different itineraries to choose from depending on your level of riding and what you’d like to do whilst there. The riding is relaxed and more of a journey through Tuscany than a fast trail ride which I really enjoyed. The horses are beautifully trained and very responsive when out riding – I loved my Sicilian horse Rosa.
The accommodation is in restored Tuscan farmhouses each with its own pool. All of the farmhouses are different and split into a number of self-catering apartments for guests. On our riding holiday packages breakfast and dinner are included at the on-site restaurant and meals are hotel style as there will be other people in the dining hall other than riders.
Castellare di Tonda is a wine estate with a wellness center and so there are other things to do whilst not riding. I did indulge in a spa experience and can certainly recommend the outdoor hot tub overlooking the rolling hills!
I think this holiday would suit people who are looking for a relaxed pace of riding in a beautiful location. I wholeheartedly recommend Castellare di Tonda.
