Macatoo - Botswana

Barbara who has been on 7 In The Saddle rides. Exhilarating, fun , contemplative holiday | My second time at Macatoo ( last time 17 years ago ) I had such a good time last time I was slightly concerned it wouldn’t match my last trip . I needn’t have worried as it was absolutely amazing in every way .
Lots of lovely quiet moments in close proximity to undisrupted game expertly patiently guided by Chief . Interspersed with exciting water based canters . Swimming & more peaceful water walks .
The horses were all fit , happy & very willing . We were all well matched with our horses ( we were a group of 10 ) The horses were very well cared for .

Do you have any comments about the accommodation and food?

The accomodation has had 2 upgrades since my last visit , the only similarity was the tents locations !
They are very luxurious with a sitting , dressing , bedroom, & bathroom area & large wooden patio overlooking the water . Very comfortable, stylish & great attention to detail . A huge upgrade from the tents in 2009 which I felt were still pretty comfortable , perhaps they can be reused & there can be 2 grades of accommodation then I can afford to go back again !
The food was good & plentiful . I would have enjoyed a few more spicy / fragrant options

How could we improve the quality of pre-holiday information that we send?

The only slight miscommunication was we were under the impression we would arrive at the camp in time for lunch & a chill before our ride on the 1st day as we stopped in Maun the night before. [In The Saddle replies: Thank you for your lovely feedback. Unfortunately Mack Air won’t guarantee a morning transfer to camp. The night in Maun beforehand is a lovely way to relax after the flight and also makes sure your safari is not disrupted by flight delays or missed connections.]
