Quinta do Rol - Portugal

Panda Worrall (this is their first In The Saddle holiday) There was simply nothing not to like. From the moment we arrived to the warmest of welcomes to our all-too-soon departure, everything was perfect. Quinta do Rol is a very special place impeccably presented by an established team of people who care deeply about providing a special experience. The horses were divine— beautifully schooled, turned out, very relaxed and seemingly super happy. Facilities with stabling without a piece of straw out of place, an outdoor and indoor arena complete with viewing gallery were second-to-none, and the hacking took us through vineyards and eucalyptus forests to high spots with spectacular views. The stand outs were the horses, matched by our fabulous instructors Joao and Hannah — whose lessons were really helpful and encouraging — and cared for by the most diligent and caring grooms. Between rides, we watched and video'd others, relaxed by the pool, enjoyed a massage and chilled in our cottage. Did we enjoy it? Simply cannot wait to return....will I be buying a Lusitano next time? Tempting.....

Do you have any comments about the accommodation and food?

Upon arrival first impressions were fabulous! The whitewashed walls of the stables, offices, winery, farm buildings and the cottages that were to become our home for the next three nights, were a welcome sight as our car turned in through the iron gate and down a cobbled drive. The accommodation was authentic Portuguese, incredibly comfortable, and well appointed and the meals, also authentic Portuguese, were plentiful and delicious as were the Quinta do Rol-produced wines to accompany! Joining other guests around a communal table for breakfast lunch and dinner was a lovely opportunity to share stories and made it feel more like being welcomed as a friend than a paying guest.

How could we improve the quality of pre-holiday information that we send?

You couldn't improve a single thing - Anna and I were both absolutely blown away by the support we received from you, your attention to detail and ensuring no stone was left unturned. The ONLY thing I would suggest (as an eco-warrior) is that perhaps you replace your vinyl document wallet which was a lovely touch to receive — thank you— with something more natural and less plastic. I cannot thank you enough for making it so easy, even though I, in particular, was rather last minute with my plans! It's a very busy time in my business as you will know.

How could we improve the way we handled your booking and payment?
