The Accommodation
Do you have any comments about the accommodation and food?
I couldn’t get over how luxurious and comfortable the safari tents were. An added bonus was an en-suite bathroom complete with flushing toilet, sink and shower.
Henry cooked 5 star meals for us to enjoy both for lunch and dinner at Simalaha. Everything was homemade and delicious. We all enjoyed our meals chatting about the days riding at a long table dressed with colourful tablecloths.
The chalets at Chundukwa River were a step up in luxury. The lodge is in a stunningly location. I found it very relaxing and peaceful. I thoroughly enjoyed my view of The Zambezi river, the sounds and colours of the birds and watching the velvet monkeys scampering in the trees.
Meals again were absolutely delicious. It was lovely sitting in the pool area surrounded by greenery or on the pontoon floating on the Zambezi. It was special.

Doug and Gail are amazing people who clearly care very much about their home and environment , the horses they own, their staff and ensuring you have a very enjoyable time. I feel very privileged to have stayed with them and been party to an amazing Zambian Safari.
Anne who has been on 2 In The Saddle rides. I enjoyed every minute. The safari was a wonderful experience and I will treasure many happy memories. | The riding far exceeded my expectations. All the horses were of excellent quality. They were fit, well trained by Doug and had good temperaments. It was pleasing to see horses in such good condition and so well cared for.
I felt total confidence in my Boerperd mare “Cassidy”. She was very comfortable to ride, forward going and responsive. She never put a foot wrong. It was wonderful to be able to enjoy long canters across wide open plains amongst the varied wildlife. Cantering with Zebra running alongside was very special.
Each day we rode in different directions from Simalaha Camp, over the plains, by the Zambezi river, through forest and crossed water.
Doug is very knowledgeable about the animals we encountered, the culture of the local people and history of Zambia. He made everyday interesting. He was also very safety conscious telling us where to ride in the presence of Cape buffalo and what to do in the event of any problem which owing to his careful assessment there never was.
Watching the sunset on the evening Sundowner rides was always magical. One evening we were blessed by the presence of several giraffes such graceful animals.
All in all the riding was superb.
[Abbie from ITS replies: Thank you for your wonderful feedback. We are so pleased that you enjoyed a wonderful adventure in Zambia. Thank you for taking the time to tell us about it].
