The Accommodation
Do you have any comments about the accommodation and food?
As discussed with Olwen over the phone the accommodation was of a standard we would expect in an agroturismo, perfectly acceptable though the air conditioning unit in the bedroom was not that effective in the extreme heat we experienced during our stay.
The swimming pool was a real plus as it was nice and warm, however the sunbeds and umberellas had seen better days.
We were expecting our half board meal to chosen from a menu daily but when we arrived it was a buffet style offering with different main courses daily however the food was served from 6.30pm and if you ate past 7.30pm the food was lukewarm and not that appetising, we feel this could be improved.
[Olwen from In The Saddle replies - Thank you for raising this with us. Castellare di Tonda have now informed us that for 2025 they have changed to a buffet format for dinner with a selection of meat and vegetable dishes. We have told them that you found the food to be lukewarm by second sittings. They have informed me that they have now solved these problems.

Nicky (this is their first In The Saddle holiday) A fabulous week learning to ride in the beautiful Tuscan hills | I had previously ridden as a child many years ago so was for all intents and purposes a beginner and my husband had never ridden, We were immediately put at ease as we were matched with two very steady horses who we fell in love with and Consetta was a marvellous teacher, so patient and knowledgeable. Within a few lessons we had gained the confidence to really enjoy the experience and by the end of the week we were trotting and ready to go out on a ride in the estate with Ailsa, Concetta and other guests. The holiday more than exceeded our expectations and we are hoping to book another trip in the future.
