The Accommodation
Do you have any comments about the accommodation and food?
We got upgraded to the honeymoon tent as the camp was not full - definitely glamping in a good way! It can get cold in the mornings though! Food is abundant, well prepared and presented, and tasty.
They have torches so no need to bring. The fine sand on the tracks made me wish I brought closed shoes rather than sandals for camp wear. The pool is unheated so unless it is quite hot out it’s more medicinal than recreational.
Before Your Holiday
Did you have all of the information you needed to:
How could we improve the quality of pre-holiday information that we send?
All good - for this trip I’d say torches not needed but seat savers are, and a bandana for the dust during dry times!
[ITS replies: Thank you for your suggestions. Our packing list for Macatoo already includes a bandana or buff, and states that if you like to use a seat saver then you should take your own. There are usually big torches in the tents, so we recommend taking a small torch or head torch for use within your tent / bathroom, and for walking to / from meals in the early morning and last thing at night].
Do you have any other feedback for us?
This is truly a wonderful place. You get so close to the wildlife, the guides are professional and deeply knowledgeable, the horses are fun, the camp run beautifully, and the vibe relaxed and welcoming. It is an adventurous trip and one you will remember for a long time.
Nancy who has been on 7 In The Saddle rides. Macatoo Camp - lives up to its reputation for an amazing experience | They have horses to suit a wide range of riders and do a terrific job of keeping them happy and healthy in the bush. Mod runs a great program and will work with guests to find good matches, even if you have to swap around a bit to get it just right. Horses are all super with the game. There are plenty of fun long canters at the speed all are comfortable with (so this might vary with the group). Not much trotting, which is fine. You cover about 12-15 miles a day.
