The Accommodation
Do you have any comments about the accommodation and food?
Accommodation: The newly renovated rooms in the base are wonderful, same for the 2 nights stay in Cobor. The other accommodations were a bit more simple, but all neat and clean.
Food: Given that we had one person request vegetarian food and another one not eating pork at all, we had a really nice mixture of fresh, local food.
Before Your Holiday
Did you have all of the information you needed to:
Do you have any other feedback for us?
Only FYI for ITS: This 3rd trail of the season was the first for the new seasonal guide to be the main guide in front. On the first days she was a bit unsure, probably about the paths/suitability to trot/canter, so if we went faster it felt cut short and also the horses reflected her 'lack of confidence'. The 4th day was guided by the very experienced backup guide, trying to make up a bit of that.
During the week, we could see the new guides confidence grow, and she was a wonderful guide on day 6 🙂
So we guess that the 3rd trail of the season might hit this learning curve also with other guides since they seem to have new guides for every season.
[Becky from In The Saddle replies: Thank you very much for your email and we are so pleased to hear that you had a wonderful holiday. The ride operator in Romania uses seasonal guides each year but it's good to hear that you were also guided by one of their more experienced guides as well.]
Svenja who has been on 3 In The Saddle rides. Wonderful active vacation | We were both matched to lovely horses. The trail is fast and the horses are all very eager, especially when getting closer to areas where they are used to gallop. There are many canters, on the last day also very long ones; there was some trotting at the start of each day; and from day 3 there were several gallops uphill or through meadows in the midst of beautiful spring flowers. One day has the option to jump fallen logs on the path, but the riders could also chose to go around.
Requiring a high level of both rider fitness and riding experience is definitely not misplaced here. Being in shape (half-marathon running) definitely made us enjoy the ride more.
Still being in the beginning of the season most horses where exchanged after the 3rd day, while my horse Zaphir was my faithful companion throughout the whole ride.
