Big Five Safari

5 star rating   2 September 2023

Cathy who has been on 52 In The Saddle rides. A Safari Adventure with many close encounters | These horses are really well cared for, soft in the mouth and a joy to ride. Keen and ready to go but easily controlled. Over the years I've ridden 15 horses here and there is not one that I wouldn't be happy to ride again. Gerti and her team regularly ride them so they remain soft mouthed and they are always sporty rides.

[Abbie from ITS replies: Thank you so much for your feedback. We're so happy that you had another special experience with Gerti, Philip and their team.]

Do you have any other feedback for us?

This safari is so special. Philip and Joe, the two guides, get you close to the animals but there is always a safety margin. Their aim is to leave the animals as they find them and not impact on their lives. What a trill to track Black Rhino, even the poachers avoid them. We found a Mum and her youngster, she stuck her head through a thorn bush to assess us, our horses grazed contentedly, she relaxed, and we watched fascinated but with racing hearts and then we slipped quietly away. As we returned for lunch we found a female cheetah reclining under a bush. Rarely seen from horseback, what a treat. That afternoon ride we headed into the riverbed, where to our delight the same cheetah was lying on the sand. We climbed the bank and watched as she rose, stretched, had a drink and then to our delight sauntered up to us before wandering back to the river. Our horses all with pricked ears stood and watched too. We also had close encounters with Buffalo, Lions, White Rhinos and Elephants. Impala, Kudu and Wildebeest ran parallel to us through the bush as we cantered on the tracks and always Giraffe oversaw the action. Wonderful memories are created here.
