Hotel Kalin 11th Sep Lazaropole. I believe that I had a reaction to insect spray? or something within the air of my overnight stay. I suspect insect spray because of the numerous dead flies around windows, corridors and room entrance doors i.e not a natural death, but of mass proportions indicating chemical eradication. (The dead flies weren’t an issue for me, just the suspected insecticide effect on my wellbeing). Symptoms were cold/flu like with groggy head / headache (no alcohol was consumed!). The condition lingered during breakfast but dissipated within first few hours of fresh air and riding again.

Review: A most magically immersive experience full of adrenaline and stimulation. Set within the most inspiring of landscapes. Vasko led us on an invigorating journey into the heart and soul of Miyak mountain living. Vasko brought the trail alive with historical and cultural context and with scene-setting for each day. It was a privilege to ride horses so in tune with their environment and to experience and to share their eagerness, fortitude and grace with which they soared up and across each mountain pass. Other highlights included the warm receptions at the farms that we stopped by. Masterful chef Alex’s exquisite pop-up trail picnics with tablecloths and spread, full of culturally refreshing and nourishing delights. And Ramadan’s prowess and acrobats on horseback keeping us together and entertained.
