Velani Country Hotel - Crete

Kate who has been on 11 In The Saddle rides. Velani Hotel, Crete - gentle riding and a beautiful view | The riding was very steady and the terrain was demanding on the horses. Very rough going and concrete roads. Cantering on hard road surfaces. Lots of walking up and down the steep hills. Fabulous views but very similar every day. The horses really knew their job but were rather bored and robotic. Good for the not-so-experienced.

Do you have any comments about the accommodation and food?

The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. Sadly I had food poisoning so lost a day riding and didn't feel like eating after that. The food was good but a little repetitive, we enjoyed it though.

How could we improve the quality of pre-holiday information that we send?

We were not quite prepared for how isolated the hotel was for John, who wasn't riding. It was too hot to walk far in that terrain and we really needed a car to go anywhere.

How could we improve the way we handled your booking and payment?

That all went fine.

Do you have any other feedback for us?

The staff made the holiday for us, they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. It might have been nice as first-time visitors to Crete to have had a couple of outings offered to us with transport.....we were told that Taxis didn't want to come up the very rough track to the hotel.
