Do you have any comments about the accommodation and food?
Guest House Kei Mouth as welcoming as usual. Part of my goal was to go to Wavecrest again and sadly we had to alter our route due to impassable river crossings. We did get there for one night thankfully. However due to being soaked to the skin (I didn't take my heavy-duty wet weather gear!) and the bathroom ceiling leaking at our first/diverted hotel it was not very comfortable. However the weather was VERY wet and everyone did their best.
Before Your Holiday
Did you have all of the information you needed to:
How could we improve the quality of pre-holiday information that we send?
When giving contact phone numbers please put in the code if calling from UK and also if calling when in South Africa. I thought I'd sent a text when the taxi was late but I hadn't. If in any sort of a panic a clear indication of exact phone number would be good, especially for me who rarely uses a mobile phone.
[In The Saddle - we will definitely try to make this clearer]
How could we improve the way we handled your booking and payment?
No all very efficient as usual.
Do you have any other feedback for us?
As I was the only guest on this trail I was very lucky (although it does mean you don't meet many people which is one of the joys of riding holidays) It ended up as quite an adventure. I had to give up on the planned extra day ride (I had to leave early on last day) on the first day as the rain was torrential. Also had to borrow some waterproof trousers (Thank you Tertia!) Ended up having lunch at a hotel watching the Queen's funeral on TV and whales blowing in the ocean!! We really had to go back and forth to find if it was safe to cross the rivers and due to one being too high we diverted to a different hotel. Also there were some slippery downhills to encounter but in the end it felt like a great sense of achievement when we got back safe and sound. They were so determined that I get an extra ride that I was picked up at 6am on my last day to ride to the cliffs and on the beach (than you Melanie) what a treat. Julie-Anne and her staff cannot do enough to make your ride great!
Judith who has been on 16 In The Saddle rides. Worth the second trip | Due to very wet weather we had to adapt the trail and therefore did not get to do the long beach gallop. This was an expected amendment but obviously disappointing.
[In The Saddle - you were very unlucky with the weather on your visit to the Wild Coast. I'm glad that overally you enjoyed your adventure. Olwen]
