The Accommodation
Do you have any comments about the accommodation and food?
Accommodation was basic but functional. We really enjoyed the camping, which was very well organised by the support team. At the end of October, it was below freezing at night, so bring the thermals! We also enjoyed the food (and the wine is great). Amazing omelettes for breakfast and beautifully presented picnic lunches with something different every day and a real taste of traditional Macedonian food. The support team were incredibly helpful, great company, and the whole operation ran very smoothly. Vasko was an incredibly informative guide with regard to traditional Miyak culture and the Macedonian way of life.
Before Your Holiday
Did you have all of the information you needed to:
How could we improve the quality of pre-holiday information that we send?
Thank you for the wallet and information pack - it was really helpful to have a printed copy of all the details. At the time of booking there wasn't a direct flight to Skopje - we had to go via Vienna.
How could we improve the way we handled your booking and payment?
None. In The Saddle have always been absolutely fantastic to deal with and we will definitely book again.
Do you have any other feedback for us?
My teenage daughter described this as 'the best holiday ever'. We went in late October; not a cloud in the sky for six days and the beech forests were a riot of autumn colour. We rode iron horses in a rust coloured landscape and loved it all.
Sara (this is their first In The Saddle holiday) A breath of fresh air | The horses are incredibly fit and sure-footed on the roughest terrain. It was a pleasure to ride them and they were always ready for a canter without ever being too forward-going. The horses are trained to walk fast and much of the ride was at this pace, although we had fast canters/gallops every day. The terrain included tracks through vast forests of beech trees and high mountain grassland pastures, with exceptional scenery and stunning views as far as Greece and Bulgaria. We brought dual purpose hiking/riding boots and these were really useful on rough terrain when we had to lead the horses. We found the Western saddles really comfortable.
