The Riding
The Accommodation
Do you have any comments about the accommodation and food?
The accommodation was basic but comfortable on most nights. The camping was very well organised and in wonderful locations. We were so tired from our long days of riding that it was easy to sleep well.
The food was basic, fresh, well presented and plentiful! We certainly never went hungry and I was always impressed with the way the support team were able to put together the meals for camping and lunches/fruit stops en route. You need to like cheese! But that was no problem as I do and it was very good and an integral part of the area's production. It would be better if you ate meat as all meals contained meat. And being gluten free might be a bit of a problem - I am sure the team could accommodate those dietary needs but you would miss out on the fresh, local produce and culinary culture.
Before Your Holiday
Did you have all of the information you needed to:
How could we improve the quality of pre-holiday information that we send?
Nothing that springs to mind. Really liked the folder and took that with me. It was good to just check each day to get an idea of what the itinerary was. It was also very useful as a check list for packing and there were items I took with me on the strength of that which I might otherwise not have thought of.
How could we improve the way we handled your booking and payment?
None. Very happy. Even though I booked and paid for a date where the ride wasn't able to go ahead until another person/persons booked, Becky contacted me immediately and gave me all the different options. I was pleased to move to another date with several other riders as the camaraderie and support and fun was great with a group.
[Becky from In The Saddle replies: Thank you so much for your lovely feedback and it's brilliant to hear how much you enjoyed your holiday. It was our pleasure to help arrange this trip.]
Do you have any other feedback for us?
Maybe worth mentioning somewhere that toilet facilities on the rides are non existent and at the camp site, rather basic. There was much peeing (and more) behind bushes and rocks. All of the group were perfectly happy with that but if anyone contemplating this tour is a bit uncomfortable with that, it might be worth making them aware.
The whole experience was absolutely fantastic and the weather definitely helped as it was mostly dry and sunny. There was an absolutely wonderful end to the ride, back at the ranch, which will stay with me forever. I don't want to say any more about it in case it doesn't happen for each ride (and it is so much better as a surprise) but it was a joyous end to a truly brilliant adventure.
Vascoe, our guide, and his team were incredible. Passionate about the horses, area and culture and really good fun. Incredibly hard working too. Really made a difference to the
Sue who has been on 7 In The Saddle rides. A totally fabulous, stunning adventure in amazing mountains. Very interesting culture and fabulously capable horses. | The riding was challenging but at just the right level. The terrain was very varied and the horses coped extremely well with it. The views were stunning every single day. The horses were very fit and footsure - perfect for the job. There was a lot of getting on and off from the ground so you need to be agile enough for that. At the end of each day you really felt like you had ridden a lot and seen a huge amount of wonderful scenery. The group I was in varied from 21 - 50 somethings and we all coped well. Not everyone had their own horses but everyone rode fairly regularly and were able to cope with the riding level.
