The Accommodation
Do you have any comments about the accommodation and food?
Cozy with picnic for lunch - there was always plenty of food (and wine) and something for everyone. Delicious food (and wine) in the evening.
Good idea to take some protein bars or similar with you, to the long days along the way. And remember to bring plenty of water with you. There is water for lunch and you can also refuel at the wells in the villages some of the days, but even in October at an altitude of 2,000 meters you need plenty of water.
Before Your Holiday
Did you have all of the information you needed to:
How could we improve the quality of pre-holiday information that we send?
Everything worked impeccably as always. Those of us who traveled with "In the Saddle" apparently had an outdated version of the itinerary than the other participants.
[Becky from In The Saddle replies: Thank you for your valuable feedback. The day to day itinearry does change occasionally but we will double check all of our documents so that they are as accurate as possible.]
Do you have any other feedback for us?
This is my second ride with Dallas Love - and I'm fresh for one more ride. Dallas - and not to forget Jeanette and Mordecai - are all great guides. Dallas does a huge job of giving us riders an experience beyond the ordinary.
It's not a ride you go to asleep. You really have to be in good fitness in terms of riding, but also sure on your feet - and be able to climb both up and down at the places where you lead the horses on foot.
The nature is magnificent and I cannot get enough of the different landscapes you encounter along the way - and also the cozy little villages. And good company along the way with the other riders.
Lone who has been on 6 In The Saddle rides. Fantastic horses, well-schooled and impressively safe on their hoof in all kinds of terrain. Got a perfectly matched horse in beautiful Tello.
The pace is as described, mostly walk. A little trot / canter a couple of days. Could have wished for a little more pace on a couple of the stretches. But of course "better safe than sorry".
