The Accommodation
Do you have any comments about the accommodation and food?
On a couple of nights we were allocated a triple room of rather spartan proportions. The shower was somewhat idiosyncratic too (Hotel Neda).
Food and meals. Everything was freshly prepared and local. Wines were not 40 euros a bottle more like 15 or 20 euros, so you may need to change the wording in your brochure to reflect reality. Local beer is cheap and widely available.
Sherpa Catering - for lunch - BBQ etc was first class. David and Beatrice worked hard to give us a wide variety of picnic lunches and hot drinks while we were out riding. Always a pleasant surprise!

How could we improve the quality of pre-holiday information that we send?
The riding did include many opportunities to gallop... we didn't always ride in single file! However, it was clear on the first day that the horses were very well behaved and easy to control and I think the emphasis on safe riding did not mar our enjoyment one bit. The young guide at the back of the ride (there was a full compliment of 10 on this trip) always had his walkie-talkie on and let Vasko know that all was well. The walkie-talkie also came in useful when Vasco wanted to relay information to the riders at the back - usually where I like to place myself.
Perhaps a better map of the route would be helpful - it is an intricate route into very mountainous terrain and having a better knowledge of the landscape beforehand might have added to my appreciation of the Mavrovo national Park and its surroundings.
How could we improve the way we handled your booking and payment?
I can't honestly think of anything you could improve on.
Office staff were responsive to any queries along the way. You have a good team, Olwen!

I have done 6 or 7 riding holidays over the years - this is my first with In The Saddle.
You have chosen a first-rate company with Vasko, and Sherpa Trails. This is an outstanding outfit - the best I have ever experienced.
This is all down to Vasco's enthusiasm, skill, experience and know-how.
The ride is not for the faint-hearted - we experienced some pretty nasty weather towards the end of the week, got thoroughly soaked and had to abandon camp, but partly because of Vasco's leadership skills and partly because we were a brave bunch, nothing was amiss and we all emerged on the other side, triumphant and unscathed.
I would recommend this holiday to those who are up to long days in the saddle and a head for heights.
Jane who has been on 2 In The Saddle rides. Full of wonderful surprises | yes, exceeded expectations. Vasco took great care of his horses - those of us who have a horse, and we had an experienced vet in our group, could see the condition of backs, legs, mouth etc was excellent. The tack fitted well and great care was taken to ensure that girths/cinches were checked several times during each day's ride to accommodate up and downhill work - often very steep.
The horses were watered and fed appropriately and were all very fit and happy.
This is so important for MY enjoyment - to know the horse that is working under me is a fit, sound animal and has received the best care possible.
