Tuli Trail - Botswana

Tuli Trail

My riding experience was somewhat compromised by travelling companion Jill's stupid request for a none brown horse 15hh plus, having spent the first full day getting to grips with the horse I was allocated, I then felt obliged to swap with Jill when she admitted she couldn't manage her mount's paces. Though by the end of the week she had persuaded herself that I actually wanted to ride her horse. I have previously lead rides in the U.K. & know how difficult & potentially dangerous the job can be. The group was too big & took 2 days to sort out due to some ignorant, selfish and potentially dangerous riding resulting in one very predictable fall. Given the overall cost of the experience I personally would prefer to pay more to GUARANTEE a smaller, therefore safer group able to crack on from day one.[ITS Comment - thank you for advising us that the group size was 9 guests. We had been led to understand that if this was the case, two smaller riding groups would go out from camp. I am sorry that this didn't happen on this occasion]

Do you have any comments about the accommodation and food?

After 36 hours travelling and 1&1/2 hours riding it would have been nice to arrive to a functioning shower, though it was resolved we had to wait till the following day for decent wash! [ITS Comment - we are sorry that your shower wasn't working upon arrival, however as soon as you mentioned this we were pleased to hear it was fixed immediately]

Before Your Holiday

How could we improve the quality of pre-holiday information that we send?

I get the impression In the Saddle and Horizon have become a bit complacent with up to date information. Being told that an extra jeep safari could be available for 20 dollars pp when the cost was actually 50 dollars then escalated to 65 seems pretty unreasonable to me. We were also told by Lyndy that what we expected as a 4th alternative stop over, Majale river camp, had been double booked, when actually it seems to not have been used for some time. [ITS Comment - we are sorry to learn that your itinerary was not up to date. We have asked our partners in Botswana to forward to us immediately the recent changes they have made so we can amend our literature]

How could we improve the way we handled your booking and payment?

Booking was okay, but even though we told you that you had wrong flight details on email sent, the same incorrect information was printed on personalized brochure. Given Botswana's conservation efforts maybe it would be a good idea to ditch the extravagant zippy wallet thing........? [ITS Comment - we apologise for the incorrect flight details within your itinerary. The 'leader' for your group did call us to clarify your exact flight details just before departure, and we were advsied by her that there was no need to repost the same document with corrected details. We apologise that we did not liaise with each memember within your party individually over this].
