The Riding
The Accommodation
Do you have any comments about the accommodation and food?
Accommodation was very mixed, but always comfortable. Three out of seven nights we had no running water or power, but this was expected. We were in remote locations where water was limited, particularly following serious drought in the region. The staff worked hard to ensure our comfort as much as possible, going to some lengths to get additional water brought to one location. For me, this was all part of the adventure. You have to be prepared to be adaptable.
Food was wholesome and plentiful, despite sometimes being prepared and cooked in difficult circumstances - thanks to Alexis, who managed to make everything come together on the drinks and catering front at the end of the day!
I cannot praise all the team from Khotso Lodge highly enough. They were fun, attentive and professional. We were well looked after, as were the horses.
Before Your Holiday
Did you have all of the information you needed to:
How could we improve the quality of pre-holiday information that we send?
Can't think of anything - all excellent.
It might be worth mentioning that Khotso Lodge supports a school in one of the remote mountain villages. Some of us said that, had we known, we might have taken something to donate. This might be something to explore for future trips.
How could we improve the way we handled your booking and payment?
Can't think of anything - all good.
Do you have any other feedback for us?
This was truly the trip of a lifetime. I felt privileged to have the opportunity to visit this beautiful, remote region of Lesotho. Thanks to the awesome, Steve Black, who accompanied us (on foot - mostly running!!) for the whole trip, we were given rare insights into the culture, history and uniqueness of this region.
Katy who has been on 9 In The Saddle rides. A true adventure! Challenging and wonderful riding in spectacular scenery. | The riding was challenging in places due to the terrain. There were periods most days where we had to lead our horses on the steeper, often rocky, mountain tracks. The horses were amazing; fit, sure-footed and completely comfortable in the mountains. I trusted my pony completely to navigate her way up and down the mountain passes. There were opportunities to canter every day, where the terrain allowed.
