Tuli Safari - Botswana

Tuli Safari

5 star rating   20 October 2019

Chloe who has been on 3 In The Saddle rides. A true once in a lifetime holiday | The riding on the Tuli trail far exceeded my expectations! Right from the moment we set off from the stables we started to encounter some of the many game the reserve is homed to. The guides had no issues stopping whenever we asked to so we could snap pictures (although only when safe to do so!). Over the week we had so many sightings, not just on horseback but in the jeep to, including; leopards, lions and a mother with younger cheetah cubs enjoying their freshly caught lunch.
Each ride had a varied pace to it, and for much of the week we stuck to a slower pace to accommodate a less confident rider who joined our ride as part of the "African explorer", but after they left the guides were happy for us to kick it up a few gears and also allowed us to jump some of the fallen trees.
All the horses were cared for impeccably and the grooms were happy for you to assist them, when appropriate, at the end of the rides. They always had fresh water and full haynets provided for them at all times of the day

Although far from a 5 star standard, each camp was unique, well suited to the area we were in and really helped make the experience that this holiday offered. We visited 3 out of the 4 camps offered and each one was exactly as described in the itinerary. The beds were all very comfortable and the rooms were kept very clean at all times. Each camp had hot showers which was always very welcomed at the end of our rides for washing away the layers of dust we'd collected! It was lovely to also shower outside under the starry sky which is certainly something you'd never experience in the UK. Having the game freely walk around the camp both night and day was certainly a welcomed experience and was rather exciting to see a herd of elephants walk right by you while having a sun bathe by the pool.

The food was incredible for every meal. Not one person was left hungry as there was always a sufficient amount of food provided for each dish. We had a good variety of meals provided throughout the week which suited every guest, as well as lots of little snacks throughout the day (including during riding) to ensure on one ever went hungry.

How could we improve the quality of pre-holiday information that we send?

Please indicate how we could improve the quality of pre-holiday information we send.: Not necessarily an improvement on ITS behalf, but I was advised to bring snacks (i.e protein type bars to keep energy levels up). I didnt touch a single snack I bought with me as I was provided with more than enough food throughout the day, but the snack bars i'd bought did take up some vital baggage weight allowance.

Do you have any other feedback for us?

This holiday really was a dream come true to experience and worth every penny spent on it. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the service received was impeccable. The guides went above and beyond to accommodate all the guests (despite one being rather difficult!), and they were extremely knowledgeable about all the different animals we did/might see.

To anyone wanting to see the sights that Mashatu has to offer i'd 100% recommend this trip
