Macatoo - Botswana

Riding Safari

5 star rating   25 August 2019

Gillian (this is their first In The Saddle holiday) Breathtaking! | Yes, the description of the riding as maintaining a fair hunting pace over varied terrain was spot on. The horses that I rode were all forward going and fit, able to maintain a fast pace over rough ground for sustained periods.
They were relaxed in the presence of game and would graze quietly whilst we took photos.

Tent accommodation was luxurious and the food was very tasty and elegantly served. Plenty to drink whether alcoholic or otherwise. No complaints there!

How could we improve the quality of pre-holiday information that we send?

A small thing but I think the info provided in the folders in the tents was a little bit more detailed than that sent out pre holiday.

How could we improve the way we handled your booking and payment?

Quite satisfied.
And several queries were answered very helpfully by your staff who has been to Macatoo.

Do you have any other feedback for us?

The holiday was brilliant! Loads of game viewing and the service provided by the guides was quite outstanding. Our guide Bongwe was super knowledgeable about the animals and the environment and always happy to answer our idiot questions. He had a lovely sense of humour. The rear guides P and Moses were lovely chaps, very helpful in pointing out the things we might have missed and keeping us safe.
Katie, the camp manager was brilliant. Super organised, very friendly and welcoming with guests, and obviously running a happy ship with her local staff. She had first hand knowledge of most of the 50 horses on site and a great relationship with the guides. She was also extremely cool and competent in the one minor accident that befell one of the younger rear guides.
Lots of surprises thrown in which made us feel very special indeed!
