I was first given a horse for which I was clearly the wrong match, and I would not have enjoyed doing a week on that horse. I got then a different horse who was lovely. I think there is a wide range of horses, and there are quite a few that I would not wish to ride for a week, while others seem great to ride.

The guides are wonderful, and will do everything they can to make the trip enjoyable; and so just don't hesitate to speak to them.

The riding was great, lots of canters on the beach and elsewhere. Lots of trotting too.

The tack was great.

Do you have any comments about the accommodation and food?

Good accommodation with single rooms for most nights. Not the luxury lodges you find elsewhere in Southern Africa, but very good price-quality value.

The best dinners were at the Kei Mouth lodge.

The whole group struggled a bit with the packed lunches, which weren't the best (some simple white, soggy bread sandwich and a chocolate bar), but saddle bag lunches are always difficult.

Do you have any other feedback for us?

Great riding with wonderful beach canters. Both In The Saddle and the local operator were very good in adapting to my changed flight schedule and arrange for me to have a short afternoon ride nonetheless.

On the extra day at the end of the trip, Julie-Anne arranged for us to have a short day ride (3 of us from the one-week ride), which was wonderful. Not a long ride, but great views from the cliffs, and nice lunch place in a Morgan's Bay backpackers. For people who can add a day before or after, and if Julie-Anne can arrange it, I would definitely recommend doing such day ride.

(ITS NOTE: This guest booked an additional night at Kei Mouth Guest House at the end of the Wild Coast Adventure Trail).
