Horizon Lodge - South Africa

Horizon

5 star rating   2 October 2019

The horses were extremely well cared for, in fact I would go as far as to say you would be hard pushed to find anywhere any better at this. All the horses looked very well and you could tell they were happy as they were always willing to work. This is probably due to the fact that one, they are not overworked and hence are always fresh and keen and secondly, they live as close to a natural life as possible, ie live in a herd and turned out 24/7.

Do you have any comments about the accommodation and food?

We stayed in the "Lakeside" lodge, you really could not fault it - very comfy, spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated.

The food was fantastic, I am a vegetarian, but also unable to eat onions and cucumber, however at every mealtime there was something specially prepared for me. The food was always very, very tasty and nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were always very friendly and helpful.

The whole atmosphere at Horizon is wonderful - you are really made to feel at home.

How could we improve the quality of pre-holiday information that we send?

It would be nice to have the pack a little earlier than 10 days (in fact we only received our 8 days in advance), in case there are those last minute things to buy/arrange. [Lois from In The Saddle writes – We actually aim to send Final Itineraries 2 - 3 weeks prior to the date of the holiday and I’m sorry that yours was so close to the date of your departure. The “what to bring” list is in the detailed itinerary which we email with the booking confirmation; although we do appreciate that it is sometimes easier to tick things off from the printed booklet.]

How could we improve the way we handled your booking and payment?

All handled well

Do you have any other feedback for us?

All in all a great holiday experience, and hopefully one we will repeat in years to come.
