Did you have all of the information you needed to:
How could we improve the quality of pre-holiday information that we send?
I'd put more emphasis on how harsh the weather can be. I was told that the temperature could go as low as -4C, which is what I prepared for. But at least one night was considerably colder (-10C) and I was shivering the whole night because my sleeping bag wasn't suited for that temperature. But I was ok because was sharing a tent (extra body heat) and they provided blankets. But still, I think it might be worth really telling people to bring a strong sleeping bag, even though it is the middle of summer. Mention that it can be very cold because of the high altitude (average 1500m).
Also: provide an English version of the safety while riding text for your danish partners. I've booked with them 3 times now and this part of the itinerary always comes in danish (which I don't speak).
How could we improve the way we handled your booking and payment?
Nothing. Everything was great.
Do you have any other feedback for us?
Namuul was the best guide ever!! Please tell Nomadic Journeys that I was very very happy and impressed with him.
Fernanda who has been on 4 In The Saddle rides. This trip was AMAZING! Absolutely everything about it exceeded my expectations: the accommodation, the food, the horses, the guide, the landscape. Everything was better than I expected. I definitely recommend this holiday to everyone.
The horses were amazing, and it is really interesting to see how the Mongolians care for and train their horses. Living in a ger was awesome. Super cosy! But definitely don't underestimate the weather! I went on the last week of August and we got absolutely everything: wind, sun, rain, ice (one night got down to -10C). So definitely bring lots of layers, rain gear and a good sleeping bag!
You will absolutely love the Mongolian steppe, its horses and its people. I promise!
Also, if you can, ask for the guide to be Namuul. He was the BEST!
