They really take care to match you to the right horse. We had a riding test to establish if we could do a fast ride and they do pay attention to riding ability before they let you loose!

My novice partner had a great horse for him, steady and straightforward. As a more experienced (English style) rider, I initially was matched with a more advanced horse who was lovely but actually a bit too advanced for me. They switched me on day 2 to one that suited me better. I liked that they paid attention to this for rider and horse safety.

We expected the terrain as we’d read up beforehand. It’s more like proper cowboy style from westerns - drier, flatter, more arid. So the riding was a bit more limited and mainly walk hacks along similar terrain but the wranglers were chatty and friendly and we went a different route each day. The beer and Cheetos ride was a nice change and we would have done the ride to Tombstone ride but it was thanksgiving weekend so this wasn’t available that week.

Loved the Wild West set up! It is like staying on a movie set, but not quite as cheesy! Rooms were large, clean and comfortable. Food was tasty and plenty of it. It’s a set menu for lunch and dinner and I’m a bit fussy but I liked all the meals they served. There’s a bar area with a pool table and they have live music on certain nights or card games (whihcnwe loved) to keep you entertained. It’s simple, but all nicely done and helps for a relaxing break.

We really enjoyed our stay at Tombstone ranch. It’s a fun place to stay, with the Wild West town set up. Special shout out to Arizona Bill who really added to the experience. We played cards with him, did morning camp coffee, and did some target practice with guns from the period. Our best night was an evening playing poker with ‘Wyatt Earp’, which was a blast. The wranglers and staff were all friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the riding and loved the overall experience of being in and around the town and the ranch.

The riding is a bit more limited as it’s more of a desert setting but in the saddle had explained that so we expected it. We still had fun and a few lopes/canters. They cater for novices and more experienced riders and had a range of horses. We also tried some agility stuff, and team penning (which was brilliant fun). They do try and make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.
