I had the opportunity to keep the same horse or change horses. My horse was a good fit for me so I kept him all week.

Do you have any comments about the accommodation and food?

The room was basic but comfortable. The shower was a bit overpowering. Food was good and plentiful. Note, there was a selection of wine, beer, and soft drinks available, as well as snacks. There was no need to stop to buy alcohol or snacks on the way to the ranch as suggested in the information provided beforehand.

How could we improve the quality of pre-holiday information that we send?

I love that you send it all in a little booklet just in time. Needs a few small updates...the boat trip to Gates of the Mountains is now $16. There is no need to buy wine, beer, or snacks before arrival as these are available at the ranch. I was the only one who brought wine as suggested, and ended up taking half of it back home with me. [ITS Comment: Thank you very much for this feedback, we have updated our information.]

How could we improve the way we handled your booking and payment?

I can't think of any, it was fine.

Do you have any other feedback for us?

This ranch did something I have not experienced on any other riding holiday and I think it is a brilliant idea. They started the week by having participants do Parelli ground exercises with their horses. This was beneficial for all but especially for the inexperienced riders. It helped build a bond, trust, and confidence before the horse was saddled. It showed those unfamiliar with horses the right way to communicate and how the horse would respond to the message.

The staff and interns were terrific and the family is so friendly and outgoing. The whole venue is set up to make one feel comfortable and "at home". They accomplish this very well.

I also loved the "sprout room" where they grow barley to supplement the horses' diet year-round. It shows how much they care for their welfare.

My one and only complaint with Rocking Z is that there were a number of unaltered cats on the premises, producing many kittens that they were trying to give away. Kittens are adorable and I enjoyed playing with them, but I have been an animal shelter volunteer in the US for 2 decades and have seen hundreds of kittens sent to the euthanasia room because there are far too many kittens for available homes, nationwide. It is disturbing for me to see uncontrolled breeding of pets. The cats need to be spayed/neutered. I'll be happy to bring Rocking Z some new barn cats (altered of course) if they happen to run out after they stop the cat population explosion.
