Luberon and The Camargue

4 star rating   16 June 2018

TD who has been on 18 In The Saddle rides. Luberon & The Camargue | This isn't advertised as a fast ride, and I was very happy to go at a relaxed pace and enjoy the scenery which was my main reason for choosing this ride. However, I was a bit disappointed with my horse which - although sweet on the ground and a perfectly nice ride in walk and trot - was very reluctant to canter, even on the beach. To be fair, the guide did seem surprised by this, so perhaps he was just having a bad week!

Do you have any comments about the accommodation and food?

Accommodation and food is generally simple but rooms comfortable and meals delicious. The picnics were always impressive, thanks to Piero's hard work, with lots of variety and plentiful wine and cheese of course (this is France!)

Classic trail through varied and beautfiul landscapes. The Camargue is a special place - where the horse is still an everyday part of life - the fact that they have their own waiting area and priority over cars on the ferry tells you a lot! It was wonderful to see them running the black Camargue bulls through the town.
Don't underestimate the vicious Camargue mosquitos - make sure you have an effective insect repellant with you and use it liberally before heading out into the wetlands.
