Transylvania Trail - Romania

Experience Level

Transylvania Trail

5 star rating   5 August 2017

I was pleased about our two guides Bree, a true horsey girl with wits & knowledge, & Greta who contributed conveniently the Romanian insight view to their experiences. The horses were well taken care of, never overdone & well chosen to the abilities of the individual riders in our group.
I would have liked to see except from glorious rolling landscape & forest some more cultural sights & meet more inhabitants with whom you can exchange, yet you cannot have it all!
(ITS NOTE: We are really pleased to hear you enjoyed riding with Bree and were pleased with the horses).

Do you have any comments about the accommodation and food?

It would be nice to have more bathrooms & showers especially for the 2nd night of the trail with summer heat as you are longing for a proper shower after a 5-7 hour ride! Best treat was at Viscri with the drawer beds in the old farm house. The food, namely soups, were very nice, people always very friendly & heldful, I could even wash my dirty riding clothes after we came back at Equus Sylvania & was grateful for that.
(ITS NOTE: The drawer beds in Viscri are wonderful – glad you liked them!).

Before Your Holiday

Did you have all of the information you needed to:

Plan and prepare for your holiday?

Feel comfortable about your transfers and what to expect?

How could we improve the quality of pre-holiday information that we send?

Make sure that riders are ABLE to gallop & trot their horses gallop & on uneven ground with deep hard pot holes & slippery grass slides as this can provoke serious accidents is not given. You should tell them that they get English stirrups, as some of us were suffering cramps in their lower legs from (originally Turkish) stirrups bent to the outside.
(ITS NOTE: We agree; this is definitely a challenging trip for fit and experienced riders).

How could we improve the way we handled your booking and payment?

Tell people it is a tough ride & they must be well trained & not too old/stiff to get off the horse…

Do you have any other feedback for us?

There should be more emphasising the importance of the nature conservation project & Equus tours as part of an apropriate soft tourism to respect the environment, people, landscape, animals & birds
