Horizon Lodge
26 November 2022
Philippa who has been on 3 In The Saddle rides. Horizon - so much fun! | The riding was excellent, a great mix of wildlife spotting and canters through varied terrain and, for those who wanted to do it, jumping. The horses were great, forward going but I felt comfortable riding every single one they put me on.
[Abbie from ITS replies: Thanks so much for taking the time to tell us about your holiday. We're so pleased you had such a wonderful time at Horizon].
Monte Velho
26 November 2022
Sarah who has been on 19 In The Saddle rides. Another wonderful few days at Monte Velho! | This was my second trip to Monte Velho this year. I learn so much there on their wonderful horses with great instruction. I really felt like I built on what I learnt last time and what I have been learning with my instructors at home.
Estancia Los Potreros
21 November 2022
Joanna who has been on 5 In The Saddle rides. Los Potreros Argentina - This holiday provided bucket list memories that weren't even on my bucket list! | Returning to the same place I loved in under a year, I was doubtful whether it would live up to my expectations and be as truly amazing second time... it absolutely exceeded my expectations! The riding was superb and I found myself having bucket list moments that I didn't even know were on my bucket list - riding across the estancia in the heat to jump into a beautiful rock pool, hidden away where we swam and relaxed whilst the horses dozed with the Gaucho. I rode some previous favourite horses again and lots of new ones. Georgia knows my riding style and horse tastes so well that when she brought out the beautiful grey Peruvian horse, Aguito proclaiming "I think this might be love for you" she was 100% right! The quality of riding was brilliant, I can't think of a better place to ride!
Skeleton Damara Ride
21 November 2022
Sue who has been on 7 In The Saddle rides. Adventurous, exciting, inspiring and humbling | The riding was often thrillingy fast and we had regular canters. We went up and down steep rocky slopes often and along ridges. On the flats there was SO much room in many places for us all to spread out that it often felt like you had the desert to yourself. I have my own horse and ride often at home and I found it challenging at times. But in a really good way. My horse was amazingly fit for the job and made the riding easier for me. Did the riding meet expectations? No, it exceeded them!
[Becky from In The Saddle replies: Thank you very much for your feedback and we are so happy that you enjoyed your adventure in Namibia.]

Jose and Roberto look after you on the ride, and check that all are happy and there is a great mix of gentle pottering around with some lovely fast riding mixed in.

Jane (this is their first In The Saddle holiday) Fabulous | The riding met my expectations.
The guides were very good - Mpho (lead) and Poloco (second guide were engaged and knowledgeable (horses, schedule, history, changes to plan - flooding of Limpopo, Motloutse, Mojali and Majele rivers ) and Poloco had exceptional knowledge fo the plant life) .
[Becky from In The Saddle replies: Thank you very much for your feedback and we are so pleased you enjoyed riding in the Tuli]
Haciendas of the Andes
19 November 2022
Megan who has been on 3 In The Saddle rides. Incredible holiday, underrated destination! | Sally and her team take wonderful care of the horses, being mindful of their fitness and adjusting horses based on the rider’s preference. You can really tell how much Sally loves her horses, and the bond she has with each one. I was well-matched with both horses, and the one I rode most, Eric, is my favorite horse I’ve ridden on any riding holiday.
The actual riding itself, in terms of pace and terrain, was phenomenal. This was among the most beautiful countryside I’ve ridden in with spectacular views. Riding in front of a volcano with wild horses was an experience I’ll never forget. I didn’t know what to expect, but in every way-Ecuador blew my expectations.
Winter Riding and Northern Lights
19 November 2022
Nina who has been on 12 In The Saddle rides. A dream come true | This was one of the best riding holidays and riding experiences I've ever had. It was my first time riding an Icelandic horse and after doing so they are now my favourite breed. The way they move feels amazing and they have incredible personalities.
The rides out we did were short but we experienced something different each time. The scenery is stunning and the type of ground we rode on changed all the time. Where many horses would have a difficult time, the Icelandic horses skipped over it like mountain goats.
We tolted lots! I loved the pace of the ride which was quick, as did the horses. My horse was perfectly matched to me. The best horse I've ever ridden!
The log cabin accomodation was beautiful, with an outdoor hot tub you could look at the stars from. The food was plenty and excellent. The hosts and guides was just fabulous. Super friendly and caring, making sure we had the best experience possible, and they succeeded!
Everything about this holiday was perfection. I also loved the trip to the Golden Circle. Way better being taken by our host Sophie, than on a big bus full of people! She taught us so much about Iceland and their way of life. We also met the family and was able to buy Icelandic jumpers the ladies had knitted. The holiday also felt like a wonderful cultural experience too.
We didn't see the Northern Lights, but that was fine as the horses made me as happy as I could be anyway.
I can't wait to return to Iceland and ride again! [In The Saddle replies: Thank you for your wonderful feedback, it is great to hear how much of a great time you had. The horses are certainly unique and many people do love them.]

Los Alamos Short Break
17 November 2022
Barbara who has been on 3 In The Saddle rides. BM-happy rider | Everything was excellent : people, food, horses, weather- despite very scary forecast (they were wrong!).
However I wouldn't mind longer hours in the saddle and more canters/gallops, maybe 2 rides per day? 😉

Horses, Dunes & Nomads
13 November 2022
Rosemary (this is their first In The Saddle holiday) An extrodinary experience | Thank you for organizing my travel plans for this truly outstanding trip. There was absolutely noting I could fault although I would have liked a few more canters and a gallop or two. The group was international, and a highly intellectual lot who were determined to enjoy every minute and that is what we did. Many of us plan rides together next year and we cant wait.
[In The Saddle replies: Thanks so much for your feedback. We're delighted that you enjoyed your much anticipated trip to Morocco].
Monte Velho
13 November 2022
Ann who has been on 3 In The Saddle rides. Monte Velho, Portugal - Great holiday! This was our second time at Monte Velho and we enjoyed it just as much as last time. | I mostly had lessons and only one trail ride. Mostly I had Lorena as a teacher and she is very good. Sadly she is leaving, but there are other excellent teachers at Monte Velho.
Green Island Trail
12 November 2022
Hilary who has been on 7 In The Saddle rides. Relaxing holiday with amazing views. | There is a lot of road riding which includes steep metal roads. The horses are bullet-proof with the traffic and also the numerous barking dogs that are behind or on top of walls.
A couple of the rides require you to walk, partly because of the steep, down-hill terrain but one so that you can see a beautiful waterfall so appropriate footwear should be considered.
Winter Riding and Northern Lights
12 November 2022
Hester who has been on 2 In The Saddle rides. Based to the itinerary I expected the rides to be longer and more diverse. Riding was a lot of fun, but rides were short and basically the same.
Ant's Nest

Ruth who has been on 6 In The Saddle rides. Another delightful African stay | The riding was excellent. We (Myself and my daughter Rebecca) were always asked what sort of ride we would like by our first class guides. We opted for long canters interspersed with close encounters with a variety of game viewings.

Wolves and Wild Horses
5 November 2022
Rosemary who has been on 6 In The Saddle rides. Wild landscape, well-schooled horses | The pace was generally walk due to the very beautiful but rough terrain. Canters were very speedy in contrast.
Ideally I would have more change of pace but that's no complaint, just an explanation of the score above.
Pedro kindly lent me gloves when the weather got cold. I hadn't realised I would need them. We rode in double socks that day.
The family were great hosts, especially regarding the riding and our needs / happiness with our mounts.
Riding Safari
1 November 2022
Dick who has been on 2 In The Saddle rides. Kujwana - Awesome | To be honest there is really nothing that could have been improved. The children were also really well matched on ponies, to the extent that they wanted to take some of the ponies home!!
[In The Saddle replies: We are so pleased that you enjoyed your long-awaited safari at Kujwana. Thank you very much for taking the time to tell us about it].

Los Alamos Villa Based Ride
30 October 2022
Sue who has been on 7 In The Saddle rides. The time of my life (part 2) | My first trip to Los Alamos was in April 2022. I adored it so much that as soon as I returned home I booked again for May 2023. However, after a few weeks at home I decided that I couldn't possibly wait until May, so I booked this October trip as well.
This time I was travelling on my own and I didn't know any of the other guests beforehand. I knew as soon as we met at Malaga airport, for our transfer to Los Alamos, that we would all get on well. Thank you ladies - you were tremendous company.
The October weather was extremely kind. It was hot and sunny every day. One day, as the forecast was for a temperature of 33 degrees, we set off riding at 7:30 a.m. It was still dark and we started our ride under a starlit sky - it was magical. We rode through the pine forest for about an hour and reached the beach as the sun was appearing over the horizon. The riding on the beach was breathtaking. Canters and flat out gallops on the most well behaved horses. They don't go until you tell them to and they stop with the slightest touch on the reins. The other rides were just as good, particularly the firebreak gallops in the forest where you are permitted to overtake (usually you have to canter and gallop in single file).
I was fortunate to ride 3 different horses during my stay, all of them were delightful. However, Olivera stole my heart. She was fast and brave - the most gorgeous Andalucian grey mare. Rachel is very intuitive and is able to match the horses to the riders with ease.
Our guides, Jose and Roberto, were utterly professional. Very safety conscious and always checking that we were happy and had no concerns.
[Abbie from In The Saddle replies: Thank you for your feedback. We're so glad that you had such a wonderful return visit to Los Alamos].
Miyak Tribe Trail
30 October 2022
Irene (this is their first In The Saddle holiday) Mountain top experience | What an incredible experience! Vasko shared his in-depth knowledge of what he referred to as his front and back garden and during the week he shared some incredible places. Perfect lunch spots with delicious meals before we set off for the next part of the day. Amazing sunrise ride with views of the Balklands!
[Becky from In The Saddle replies: Thank you so much for your feedback and it's wonderful to hear how much you enjoyed your holiday.]
Judith who has been on 20 In The Saddle rides. Hospitality professionals | My knees would always appreciate a bit of trotting.
