The scenery is amazing and there is a variety of riding experiences offered eg slow, fast rides, longer, shorter rides, cattle penning and sorting, breakfast rides, beer and Cheetos rides.

Amazing | It was the best place, everything was excellent, the horses were well trained, all the extras - shooting, archery, ebiking, axe throwing etc were well organised and informative. The food was so good I’m sure I’ve put on weight! I had a really lovely massage in between riding. The only draw back is it’s so far away!

Pen who has been on 3 In The Saddle rides. Super trip! | All trail rides were nose-to-tail in order of fastest horse first (behind the wrangler/guide) and slowest horse at the back. This meant you couldn't necessarily ride with your companion/partner. Very little chatting on the rides, and the wrangler/guides varied as to how chatty they were. There was no trotting/jogging, only walk and canter/lope. You could choose from 4 rides a day, either fast rides (3 or 4 canters) or slow rides (walk only) and sometimes cattle sorting and cattle penning (super fun!). Although the routes were different each day, the scenery was exactly the same each day, beautiful desert, just not very varied. A couple of routes were really rocky, steep and treacherous (really exciting!), but the horses were totally unfazed. The horses were pre-programmed to follow the one in front, and they were bombproof, so ideal for nervous/novice riders.

Lisa who has been on 3 In The Saddle rides. It was a really fun experience, less of a Riding holiday and more of a holiday with riding. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, all the horses were lovely, care was taken to make sure you enjoyed your horse.

I was a solo traveller and I fitted in and made new friends.

A fabulous experience | White Stallion Ranch offers a wide variety of riding to suit all abilities, from complete first time riders, to those who have been riding for years. You can also experience some of the cowboy lifestyle by taking part in cattle sorting to team cattle penning (both excellent fun). There are also plenty of non-riding activities if you are feeling a bit saddle sore, or a very nice pool to relax by.

Vikki who has been on 3 In The Saddle rides. Taste of Wild West | It was lovely to have an opportunity to try riding in a Western saddle, however this is not a holiday for experienced riders. The lopes/canters were short and none of the rides were out for their advertised time. We were incredibly lucky as met up with some other competent riders and asked to ride out with them at all times, but being with total novices would have been a frustrating experience and the majority of guests on the ranch were no novices having never ridden before. The horses were well matched to riders, my husband and I got exactly the sort of horses we had requested. Some of their hooves were a bit long in the toe, and horses were not groomed particularly well but standards in US are different to those at home.

Amazing Yet Again | First horse I was matched with I didn’t get on with so well (just didn’t click), second horse I was paired with was perfect - had so much fun with him. Variety of riding is perfect. The horses are mostly well cared for definitely… we were told they had individual feeding plans, not ridden if lame/lost shoe, get lots of turnout/shade/shelter and a guaranteed day off each week. However, me and my friend asked to brush the horses on two occasions after the last ride of the day. Wranglers more than happy for us to do this, and wait for us. However, after our last ride we noticed my friend’s horse had a massive open sore on its back (looked like it was from the saddle). When raised to the wrangler, he did get some cream to put on it, but we were worried if the horse would be ridden again in the next few days before it had chance to heal properly (the horse was slightly underweight and also had some sores on its protruding hips, which looked like it was rub marks from the saddle/saddle cloths). Also, some of the horses in the paddocks appeared to have very long hooves/long heels on back hooves etc - I’m not an expert in this field, but looked unusual/unnatural compared to what I’m used to seeing in the U.K.

Christina (this is their first In The Saddle holiday) What An Adventure! | There are opportunities to ride up to 3 times a day - which I mostly did because of the range of rides available. Generally the rides out are categorised as 'slow' or 'fast'. Slow is at a walk, but through the most extraordinary scenery that you really do need to pass through steadily to see it all. Slow ones included the breakfast rides (a lovely spot with a hearty breakfast)and the mountain rides (where it gets fairly steep and views from up high are spectacular). Rides are offered from 1 hour to all-day. My companion and I were allocated horses on the first day, based on our stated abilities and we were not disappointed! Mine was a lovely responsive, forward-going Mustang (stuff of dreams) and there was never a moment of disappointment. He took me over mountain ridges and did cattle-penning beautifully (making it look as if I was in charge - I was not, it was all him and his skills!). I kept him for the week, but it is easy enough to change horses if you feel the need. Wranglers (who lead the rides) were fantastic. Horses look fit and well-cared for and everyone seemed very happy with their rides.

Bethan who has been on 3 In The Saddle rides. The riding was amazing and if we were ever unsure about certain things as we weren’t familiar with western everyone was keen to help and give advice to make things easier for us.

Very good | Hi the riding was very good but that was if you had a wrangler who knew the horses well and could place them correctly in line and u also got people who could ride and didn't keep slowing up. Some riders only ride once a year at the ranch and have to hold the saddle to stop themselves falling and they were on the fast rides. But overall it was amazing.
