Mary who has been on 4 In The Saddle rides. Incredible Experience that Exceeded our Expectations | The horses were very well cared for - we were all questioned for some time regarding our riding experience before they matched us with our horses.
The first day was a shorter ride (2 hours) to check that we were all happy with our mounts.

Jayne who has been on 11 In The Saddle rides. Exhilarating & Exceptional | The variety of riding is limited to pine forest and mountain pathways in general, together with some riding opportunities closer to the Chilko rivers edge. Whilst not necessarily varied, the riding provides for some stunning views and incredible landscapes which are breathtaking. My horse, Copper, was exactly what I had requested and suited me for a week of riding with some extended hours in the saddle as the week progressed and some long and winding canters on pathways called “ the rollercoaster” and “the ridge”. You need to be match fit and at intermediate level at least for the riding as the guidance from ITS suggests.
[Abbie from ITS replies: Many thanks for your lovely feedback. It's great to hear that you had such a wonderful in beautiful BC].

Bev who has been on 9 In The Saddle rides. Breathtaking and a wonderful pace of life | We had a wonderful time. Loved learning how to tack up Western Style. Rode a super horse called Jackson who I fell in love with. Good connection and trust. Loved being able to groom him etc.
Riding is either walk or canter through forests, on ridges above the river so views are breakthaking! Some open places. Few incidents with wasps, but was just unfortunate.
Horses hated them.
[Abbie from ITS replies: Thanks so much for your lovely feedback. We're so pleased you enjoyed your adventure in beautiful BC].

Georgia (this is their first In The Saddle holiday) Dream riding holiday at Tyslos in the Chilko River | The riding was incredible, we had an amazing guide Femke who made our days riding fun, enjoyable and varied throughout the week. We had plenty of opportunities for fun, long canters and when we weren’t cantering we were spoilt with insane views of lakes and mountains etc. The horses were a delight to ride, sure footed, hard working, kind natured and happy in their herd. We were all well matched and horses were swapped out when needed but otherwise we were given the whole week to make a bond and have a great time with our horse.

Shirley who has been on 4 In The Saddle rides. The riding was much harder and faster than expected. If I’d been fit enough it would have been better.

Alison (this is their first In The Saddle holiday) The holiday was fantastic.
The staff were all lovely and so helpful, chatty, interesting and experienced.
The horses were amazing - mine was so trustworthy and a great match for my experience while challenging me a little on the harder terrain.
The accommodation was excellent, a two bedroom each ensuite lodge with a lovely wee sitting room with a decking area outside - we did encounter mice in the cabin but these were to be expected given the location and the staff did their best to control them.
The scenery was amazing - from the 7,000 feet high mountain to the river's edge, it was out of this world, and the weather 4th to 11th Sept'22 was great.
The wild life was just amazing - we saw grizzly bears, bald and golden eagles, falcons, fox, chipmunks, salmon jumping, trout being caught by the fishermen.....just amazing.
The riding was great - the terrain was a bit more challenging than I thought, narrow mountain paths for some of the cantering, but a few lovely and open spaces for us to have great free and relaxed canters too, leading the horses down the mountain on one ride due to the stone underfoot was a bit daunting but I survived unscathed. Would definitely say this riding is not for novices and I, a competent intermediate, was just able to keep up, but I did ask for shorter rides on the last 2 days due to the anticipated nature of the terrain for canters - narrow up & down mountain trails - which they were happy to accommodate.
But really was a great, adventurous holiday, memories to treasure and I would definitely recommend it to competent experienced riders.
[Becky from In The Saddle replies: Thank you very much for your feedback and it sounds as though you had some amazing wildlife sightings!]

Tracey who has been on 2 In The Saddle rides. Tsylos - Stunning location and exhilarating riding | Super horses. Very fit, well cared for and well fed. Riding was suitable for experienced riders.
Our riding guide, Anna, was a huge contributor to us having the very best riding experience. Personable warm and engaging.
Eddie (this is their first In The Saddle holiday) A brilliant weeks riding in back country British Columbia | The first two days were rides at walking pace over a variety of terrain which was useful in getting to know your horse and get a feel for the western style of riding. The rest of the week was spent over a wide variety of tracks, meadows, mountain paths at all paces. The riding was fabulous, trusting the sure footed horses on some difficult and sometimes exposed tracks. This holiday is not for the novice or nervous riders.
There were six of us, all of a similar riding ability, with two guides. My horse was a complete star and didn’t miss a step.
[Olwen from In The Saddle replies - I am so glad that you enjoyed this great holiday at Tsylos].
