Dija who has been on 2 In The Saddle rides. 10/10 - Fabulous ride through rural Uganda | The rides were so varied and the horses are fit and a joy to ride. I’ve only ever done a true gallop a few times in my life, and it was great fun to turn it up a bit.

My mum had Sputhern Comfort, who’s a real gentleman and gave her the most wonderful ride and totally took care of her. The first full day had some long canters and gallops and she’d be the first to admit she’s not this kind of riding fit. So she took it a bit easier and Nat and TJ were so accommodating, letting her ride until she was knackered and/or feeling broken and then picking her up in the jeep and taking her to meet us later in the day. We both really appreciated the extra care they took to make sure she had a fantastic holiday too.

I rode Hunters Gold, who is an absolute superstar. I would trust that little horse with my life. I am going to miss him so much.

We rode through towns and villages, tea, coffee and sugar plantations which are slowly nibbling away at the rainforest , a peninsula of Lake Victoria, the Mabira forest where we saw the rare grey cheeked managabey monkey in three different places, we galloped through villages with children cheering us on, been chased by cows, seen the huge variety of fruit and veg that grows in this fertile soil - avocado, pineapple, bananas, passion fruit, corn, pumpkins and more, watched people making the clay bricks for their homes, ridden along the banks of the Nile and swum with the horses. Had a Ugandan spray tan from the red dusty gallops which tinged us all a shade of red.

It was a wonderful experience, lots of memories made on what will be my mums last big ride. She’s going to stick to more sedate stuff now she’s in her 70s I hope to come back for round two. Big thank you to Nat, TJ, Laura, Moses, Jeremiah and the rest of the team who showed us such care and kindness.

Ali (this is their first In The Saddle holiday) Fantastic Riding Holiday | The riding was fast and exhilarating - not for the faint hearted! The horses were classy and well cared for, fit and well. Nat & TJ (owners of Nile Horseback Safaris) looked after us every step of the way, kept everything safe, yet challenging us enough to give us some thrills! They also dined with us at lunchtime and evenings, giving us local knowledge and history which was so interesting - fantastic people!

Nicole who has been on 29 In The Saddle rides. Wonderful off-the-beaten-track experience | The riding is just fantastic. It is all on dirt tracks but relaxed order, which makes the whole riding very relaxed and enjoyable. A lot of canter and regular gallop, on amazing horses. I'm not a tall horse person and was matched with a 17 hh horse (Kumi Kumi), but he was so safe, friendly, generous, respectful and fast, I can't complain 🙂

The scenery and environment were more varied than I expected. Riding through villages every day, but other than that each day seemed different (pure village experience, prime forest, secondary forest, Lake Victoria, sugar cane and other fields, Nile, etc. Certainly never boring.

The guides were great, helpful when you needed them (without being always in your face), knowledgeable, very much focused on making it a fantastic experience for the guests.

Amazing to ride fit, well cared for horses in a unique environment | The riding more than met my expectations, riding through plantations, villages (where everyone would come out to wave) and the Mabira forest. The scenery is stunning, very lush and green along the banks of the Nile. I rode Southern Comfort who was just perfect for me, he liked a bit of space (better for photo opportunities) plus he was very responsive and took everything in his stride. He really knew his job and took good care of me. Lots of opportunities for long canters which Moses and Erasmus expertly handled, looking out for us all. Nat and TJ clearly love their horses and give them 5* care which is reflected in the horses who are enjoying the best life.

Vivien who has been on 47 In The Saddle rides. Wonderful | This holiday more than met expectations. Natalie and TJ are some of the best hosts I have met on all the riding holidays I have been on. They are super nice people, have lots of interesting stories of their adventures and how they came to move to Uganda, have superb horses and really care about their welfare (not easy in the tropics). I rode Hunters Gold who had the smoothest paces I've experienced, a really nice horse. All the horses were in great health without a mark on them. They also have a great team of local people working for them. Moses and Erasmus did a great job of looking after us and the horses on the rides. We did lots of fast riding, at the group's request, and rode through villages, countryside, tropical jungles and along the river Nile. It was so different from the many southern Africa riding holidays I've been on and so interesting. Uganda is an amazing, complicated country, and so worth visiting. Stunningly beautiful as well. You get to see the real Africa on this holiday.

Mary who has been on 19 In The Saddle rides. Off the Beaten Track | Natalie and TJ are true horse people who really care for their horses. The horses are bomb proof (no falls on our ride). They also gallop very fast. I rode a pony called Bullrush and he was perfect for me.
The rides along the Nile and through the villages was an amazing experience and we had a great break for lunch along the way. The scenery was beautiful so much green and the ride through the forest seeing monkeys was a unique.
Staying at Wild Waters topped off a fabulous week. I would also recommend doing the rafting as the crew are really professional and kept to their word that my boat would not flip.
