Ruth who has been on 4 In The Saddle rides. Perfect Spanish riding holiday | Just back from a wonderful riding holiday at Los Alamos, southern Spain. The horses were superb - forward going, well-trained, obedient and seemed to love the long canters and gallops as much as I did!

We rode out in the mornings, for about 4 hours in the forest/national park and also on the beach. Accompanied/led by our expert guides, Jose, Roberto, Laura. Then time for a leisurely lunch at a local restaurant, followed by well-earned relaxation back at the beautiful farmhouse, by the pool.

A top-notch riding establishment to which I shall most definitely return - thank you to everyone at Los Alamos for the best riding holiday experience ever.

The guides are skilful, fun, patient and highly competent. The terrain provides comfortable riding, with plenty of opportunity for blasts of speed. Whilst it is always essential to pay attention when riding, it is possible to relax with these horses especially when fellow riders are well matched.

Ros who has been on 17 In The Saddle rides. Fantastic | I went last year in May and came again this year in August with the encouragement of friends that I met at Los Alamos in 2024. Mostly I rode my favourite horse from last year Portabello, a big chap with a most comfortable ride. I enjoy so much canters through the umbrella pines and gallops on the beach in the capable hands of our guides Jose and Roberto. Rachel in charge of the horses is very good at matching rider to horse.

Anne who has been on 3 In The Saddle rides. Funtastic Riding! | Having ridden at Los Alamos last year, it felt like returning to our overseas family. Rachel & Jose, as ever, are brilliant at matching the horse to the rider and I had two superb horses (My boy, Rio who I rode last year and a new boy, Marcito) ... loved them both!! Rides were excellent and we had a fantastic group (5 pals, plus 1 we made last year and 3 others). It was great that we all got on and had a real laugh. The beach rides are sublime and the forest rides are equally fantastic.

Philip who has been on 7 In The Saddle rides. The perfect balance of riding and relaxing | Because I went in June, riding was in the morning with early starts to avoid the heat. We were a large group (9) of mixed abilities. As I was one of the more experienced riders, I got some of the faster horses. Everyone got a change of horses over the week. My first horse was Harry, an unlikely looking hairy cob, who was just lovely. My second horse was Rio who was sleek and black, and looked amazing and was very fast. My horse on the last day was Sofia, a feisty mare who spent the first 20 minutes chomping on the bit and trying to get to the front. After that she settled down and was also very fast. The rides were generally quite long (about 4 hours) which consisted mostly of walking through the beautiful forest, but also some fast canters and gallops. I think everyone's saddles had seat savers, mine was a gel type. The horses were all very well behaved and looked after, and I didn't hear any complaints from the other riders. A lot of people fell in love with their horses!

Joanna who has been on 5 In The Saddle rides. Lovely forward going horses | I rode two horses during my holiday who were both forward going and a great match for me - I feel I got exactly the type of horse I like to ride who also enjoyed being at the front like I do.

I felt the riding in the forest became a bit samey - although the forest was beautiful with all the spring flowers out. The beach riding was fab and a real highlight

The horses were all lovely and well cared for. The riding operation is well organised by Rachel.

Whilst I understand that the amount of riding offered was as advertised I personally would have liked a bit more riding for a week's holiday.

The saddles are very comfortable and rides the right pace and duration for intermediate to experienced riders. We loved it! Definitely coming back. | I hadn’t ridden for 6 months and so Rachel gave me a horse that was more mature to ride. The younger me would have probably liked to gallop faster but I knew my competence at the moment! You never know it may change! I loved it and definitely want to go back.

Billie (this is their first In The Saddle holiday) A Blast! | I was expecting to ride twice a day as quoted in the brochure. But we returned to the stables each day by 1pm and didn’t ride again. [In The Saddle replies: The riding programme at Los Alamos is to ride somewhere for either breakfast/coffee or a longer break for lunch, and then ride back to the stables. There has never been a second afternoon ride but I have checked our itinerary to make sure that’s clear.]

Lavinia (this is their first In The Saddle holiday) The two horses I rode were superb. I would love to have brought Zeus home with me! The horses are enthusiastic about their work, respond well to gentle aids and are extremely well cared for. Everything about the horses exceeded my expectations.

I appreciate the staff need down time and as the season progresses the horses need a break too, but If you're an experienced rider and riding fit (as the ride blurb says you should be) then riding for 6 days shouldn't be an issue.
A couple of us did get an extra day as additional guests arrived later in the week and for us it worked really well.

Beautiful horses, sun, sand, good food and great company - perfect antidote to the January blues! | The much-loved horses are all beautifully schooled and carefully chosen to ensure you can have just the holiday you want, from spirited and speedy to straightforward and relaxed. You also get to ride more than one horse during the week which I really like. The pace is a good balance of walk, controlled canters, faster canters and 'go for it' gallops with fabulous guides Jose and Roberto.
