Joanna who has been on 4 In The Saddle rides. Lovely forward going horses | I rode two horses during my holiday who were both forward going and a great match for me - I feel I got exactly the type of horse I like to ride who also enjoyed being at the front like I do.

I felt the riding in the forest became a bit samey - although the forest was beautiful with all the spring flowers out. The beach riding was fab and a real highlight

The horses were all lovely and well cared for. The riding operation is well organised by Rachel.

Whilst I understand that the amount of riding offered was as advertised I personally would have liked a bit more riding for a week's holiday.

The saddles are very comfortable and rides the right pace and duration for intermediate to experienced riders. We loved it! Definitely coming back. | I hadn’t ridden for 6 months and so Rachel gave me a horse that was more mature to ride. The younger me would have probably liked to gallop faster but I knew my competence at the moment! You never know it may change! I loved it and definitely want to go back.

Billie (this is their first In The Saddle holiday) A Blast! | I was expecting to ride twice a day as quoted in the brochure. But we returned to the stables each day by 1pm and didn’t ride again. [In The Saddle replies: The riding programme at Los Alamos is to ride somewhere for either breakfast/coffee or a longer break for lunch, and then ride back to the stables. There has never been a second afternoon ride but I have checked our itinerary to make sure that’s clear.]

Lavinia (this is their first In The Saddle holiday) The two horses I rode were superb. I would love to have brought Zeus home with me! The horses are enthusiastic about their work, respond well to gentle aids and are extremely well cared for. Everything about the horses exceeded my expectations.

I appreciate the staff need down time and as the season progresses the horses need a break too, but If you're an experienced rider and riding fit (as the ride blurb says you should be) then riding for 6 days shouldn't be an issue.
A couple of us did get an extra day as additional guests arrived later in the week and for us it worked really well.

Beautiful horses, sun, sand, good food and great company - perfect antidote to the January blues! | The much-loved horses are all beautifully schooled and carefully chosen to ensure you can have just the holiday you want, from spirited and speedy to straightforward and relaxed. You also get to ride more than one horse during the week which I really like. The pace is a good balance of walk, controlled canters, faster canters and 'go for it' gallops with fabulous guides Jose and Roberto.

I have been dreaming of riding an Andalucian for years and rode 2 beautiful ones; Habano & Hercules! My daughter really enjoyed Gordi, Harry & Sofia; so we had Sophia riding Sofia! Beach riding surpassed expectations and was made even better by Rachel taking some fantastic photos that we were able to purchase digitally which were great souvenirs! The forest rides were great too with amazing views. I really enjoyed lots of opportunities to canter and gallop as I no longer have a regular ride at home. Our guides Jose and Roberto (and others!) looked after us so well even when the weather was not ideal at the beginning of the week.

Katerina who has been on 5 In The Saddle rides. Fantastic from beginning to the end | This is a well-run, friendly and fantastic riding holiday destination. The scenery, the villa, the food and the opportunities of riding on forward-going, well cared for horses and meet such lovely people and also not forgetting the family-run holiday, where all the logistics, food preferences and transfers and help are just so professional run are why so many of us love to come back. The riding was, at times, fast so you must be honest about your abilities and be confident in all paces and although you will be matched with a horse for your skills, that doesn't mean you should expect the horses to ride for you - this is not trekking. I would say you need to be a regular rider and have been out of hacks, not just in an arena. You will get the most thrill and enjoyment by ensuring you have worked on your experience and are ready for all the fast and slower paced riding skills required and are happy to meet new people and have a great time.

Lisa who has been on 5 In The Saddle rides. Galloping Into 2025! | The riding at Los Alamos was excellent with lovely quiet tracks in the forest and fantastic canters and gallops in the firebreaks and on the beach. I had a fixed smile on my face from the moment I mounted.

Cathy who has been on 49 In The Saddle rides. Riding through wooded dunes, exhilarating gallops along the firebreaks. Two days were ridden on the beach with the backdrop of Cape Trafalgar lighthouse, such fun. To get the best of the beach re the tides, one morning we began the ride in the dark with only the stars and moon for illumination. The horses were full of energy yet easy to control and all in immaculate condition.

What better way to spend the festive season than in Spain, enjoying some winter sunshine, great food and drink, fabulous horses, fun rides and a gallop down the beach to blow away any cobwebs! Our hosts Andrew, Rhiannon and Rachel and our riding guides Jose and Roberto were all superb which made for a fantastic week. Loved it and would definitely go again!

Sarah (this is their first In The Saddle holiday) Unforgettable Spanish riding experience! | The rides on this holiday were fabulous. A perfect variety of beautiful forest trails and long sandy beaches. The terrain and wonderful horses allowed us to expeience exhilatrating long canters and gallops. Cantering through the water on the beach and galloping in the firebreaks was our highlight and something we would be unlikely to experience at home.

Lorna (this is their first In The Saddle holiday) Legends of Los Alamos! | What an absolutely unbelievably cool holiday!! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left Los Alamos we were truly cared for by Andrew, Rhiannon and Rachel. The riding was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done and, despite not having the best weather, the team adapted the timetable so we got our beach gallop in on the first day and managed a fire breaker gallop on the last - we didn’t miss out on anything! Jose and Roberto were totally brilliant whilst we were riding and we felt we were in safe hands at all times - the ‘little canters’ were the best!! The accommodation was fabulous and the food and drink totally first rate - you catered for the different needs of our group brilliantly.

This was the perfect first riding holiday and it’ll be hard to beat the hospitality, riding experience and overall fun we had with a fabulous bunch of people.
