The way Julio looks after his horses to the countryside we journeyed across. The hotels were way above our expectations. Hot water and toilet roll everywhere. lol. We were picked up in Bogotá and from that moment were looked after by Julio and his team. We rode across stunning landscapes. Ate lunch in locals houses. Avocados like you have never tasted and then popped into boutique hotels where we could have a quick dip in the swimming pool. We continued journeying on and experienced the same as we moved north arriving finally at barichara. The food across the trip was cooked fresh daily and we enjoyed the cheeky beers at the end of the day. Julio appreciated our help with hosing the horses down but honestly those horses deserve every bit of care that we could give them. They are so sure footed and pleasant to ride. My biggest tip. Don’t hesitate. Colombia was just wonderful.

Beautiful horses, stunning scenery, and the genuine warmth of the Colombian people. Julio was outstanding - caring, knowledgeable and committed to giving us an authentic experience - and WIlson was an integral part of it all, the perfect wingman and back-up rider, who helped ensure everything ran smoothly.

You need to be riding fit: limited cantering, but plenty of fast trotting. Riding these sprightly, characterful, soft-mouthed horses was a joy.

Eva who has been on 3 In The Saddle rides. Colombia - Barrichara - Yariguis Extended | This was our second ride holiday with Julio and his team. Amazing horses that are so very well cared for, well trained and just truly amazing. Julio is very knowledgeable, answers all the questions we had, very accommodating - things might need to change last minute, but everything is run so so smoothly. What we also particularly liked is the contact we have before we arrived and via the chat group he sets up - there are always last minute questions and he comes back super quickly - big thumbs up for that!

As for the ride itself - there is no way you will ever get to experience we did on your own, or as a 'normal' tourist. We are far off the beaten track and it's amazing to 'join' the local life for a few days. Everyone we met were so friendly, invited us in to their homes - cooked for us, showed us their life, how they harvest what they grow etc. amazing.

The horses are unbelievably strong and sure footed and it is so obvious that Julio adores his horses and same for Wilson (groomsman). They are like his dogs! Follows him whenever they can.

Holiday of a lifetime - just fantastic | The holiday was amazing , the country is beyond beautiful and the combination of riding, history and culture was just right. The organization of the holiday was suburb and everything was exactly as it stated it would be on the ride.

The care of the horses welfare was at the forefront of the holiday and they received everything they needed as well as affection and individual care.

It was definitely for experienced riders and you felt exhilarated when you completed the day.
The accommodation was excellent and the welcome from people was heart-warming.

Overall the best organised, enjoyable whilst challenging riding holiday I have experienced.

Villa de Leyva - wonderful horses, wonderful guide Julio and beautiful landscape. | I think this was the place we've so far been to that over exceeded our expectations regarding the horses. They were all excellent. I had two different ones and my friend three different ones. They were all fabulous. Beautiful country to ride in. Very safe!

The horses were outstanding, our guide Julio, very knowledgeable, friendly and it's absolutely clear that he lives for his horses who are incredibly well cared for. The landscape was beautiful, everyone we met were super friendly. Each day was very different, which also made the ride super interesting. I would highly highly recommend this ride!
