Riding Experience

Choosing the ride that is right for you is the key decision for an enjoyable and safe holiday. We've included lots of information on our site to help you navigate your way through the choices available but there is no substitute to speaking to us. At any stage in the process you can email or call us for advice. There will be someone here who has been on the ride. We can talk through the holiday and fill in any information gaps. We also recommend you read the guest reviews. We don't select or filter the feedback, everything that comes into us goes on the website. To make it easier for you to focus on the rides which might be right for you, we have classified riding ability into four broad groups For each ride the coloured circles give you a quick guide to the level of experience that holiday would suit. Also on each page is a more detailed description of the riding that you should expect.

 Beginner

Someone who has never sat on a horse or had only limited very easy rides. Probably not able to rise to the trot.

 Intermediate

Has had a number of lessons and is reasonably confident on a horse at walk, trot and canter.

 Intermediate Plus

Confident and in control on a forward going horse at a steady canter in the open over uneven ground. Has ridden for a number of years.

 Experienced

Confident and in control on a forward going horse at a fast canter in the open over rough and variable ground. There are likely to be long stretches of fast riding and/or you will be riding in areas with potentially dangerous game.
