Imogen - Travel Consultant

My areas of specialism are Los Alamos, the Dressage Centres, Limpopo and Horizon.

I started riding at a young age, joining in with pony days and riding lessons at my local riding school. From here I volunteered at a local livery yard in exchange for riding. Whist at Reading studying for a degree in Zoology, I joined my university riding club and joined regular flat work, dressage and show jumping clinics alongside riding lessons and gymkhanas. After university I travelled to New Zealand for 6 months working on private stud yards and trekking centres, helping to school and jump the horses and ponies, keep hunters fit for the upcoming season and leading treks through the New Zealand countryside.

Since joining In The Saddle in 2016, I have ridden in Spain, Portugal, Iceland, South Africa and Botswana.

Your favourite destination… so far?
It’s a tough choice between the Tuli Safari in Botswana and the King’s Trail in Iceland. Both were incredible experiences!

What's on your travel bucket list?
South America, Lesotho, Mozambique, Canada and Scandinavia.

What sort of horse do you like?
The smaller the better! I love a pony with character and personality, but good manners are a must.

What’s your most memorable travel moment?
Seeing a Giraffe for the first time in Botswana, swimming with wild Dusky Dolphins in New Zealand or tölting with a herd of 90 loose horses in Iceland.

What is the best part of your job?
Getting to travel the world, meet new people, and ride different native breeds are the obvious ones. However, matching the right person to the right holiday and hearing all about their incredible experiences when they get back is brilliant.

I wouldn’t travel without…
Packing cubes! These are a brilliant way to keep your bag organised particularly if you have limited luggage space.
