Hannah - Travel Consultant

My main area of specialism is Instructional Riding Holidays, also safaris to Botswana and South Africa and many of the European rides including the Azores.

I started riding at a young age, spending my whole childhood helping out at local riding stables to have a lesson at the end of the day. I saved up and got my first horse at the age of 18, he was a big thoroughbred cross and taught me a lot, mainly how to stay on! I now have a young cob who I bought as a 3 year old and have backed and trained myself. I compete locally for my Riding Club in Showing and Dressage. In the winter I can be found on the hunting field. I started my career teaching, gaining my BHSAI and BHS4. I was then lucky enough to work for an up and coming dressage rider who had amazing young horses. I was very fortunate for four years to groom at some amazing venues including the National Dressage Championships.

Since joining In The Saddle in 2014, I have ridden in Italy, Ireland, and the Azores, and been on a horse safari in South Africa and Botswana. I haven’t been on any riding holidays for a couple of years as I had a baby in January 2018. I have spent most of my time since raising my daughter but have now returned to work part-time, working Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays.

Your favourite destination… so far?
So far Tuli Trail but also loved the Azores - so hard to choose.

What's on your travel bucket list?
Mozambique looks beautiful.

What sort of horse do you like?
Not too fussy. Well behaved and forward going.

What’s your most memorable travel moment?
Seeing my first herd of elephants in the wild on the Tuli Trail.... passing by me, not even knowing I was there.

What is the best part of your job?
Talking about my past trip experiences with potential new travellers and reliving my memories. I also love working on our trade stand at shows talking to people.

My Ariat all-terrains – so comfy.
