Becky - Travel Consultant

My areas of specialism are safari holidays in Botswana and South Africa, the North American Ranches, and holidays in Romania, Italy and Sweden.

I grew up in Shropshire, joining my local Pony Club at a young age. I went on to compete in most disciplines including mounted games, show-jumping, dressage, eventing and polo cross. But I prefer to event and have recently introduced my homebred mare to BE. I compete regularly throughout the year and during the winter months can be found following hounds across the hills of rural Shropshire. I also love to travel. I went on an expedition to Morocco while in school and worked in Australia for a year.

Since joining In The Saddle in 2014, I have ridden in Spain, Italy, Romania, Sweden, Botswana, South Africa, Montana and Arizona.

What's been your favourite destination… so far?
Botswana – seeing big game up close was just a phenomenal experience. Having my cowgirl dream come true in Montana was a close second.

What's on your Travel Bucket List?
I’d love to do an epic expedition at some point, maybe ride across the Namib Desert or through Argentina. Mozambique and Kenya are also definitely on my bucket list!

What sort of horse do you like?
I prefer a horse with a bit of personality! Something forward going but with good manners is perfect and I like it to stand still so I can take lots of pictures!

What’s your most memorable travel moment?
My most memorable moment must be the first time I cantered alongside a herd of giraffe in the Okavango Delta. It was a truly unforgettable experience.

What is the best part of your job?
It’s a toss-up! Obviously being able to travel to different countries and ride horses across the world is an amazing part of the job but I also love helping people plan their dream holidays. I really enjoy talking to clients and helping them pick the right holiday for them. Then best of all, hearing all about their experiences on their return.

I wouldn’t travel without…
My buff – it’s been on all the seventeen rides with me and I wouldn’t be without it. Some of its uses have been for protection against the cold and wind in Romania, a dust mask in Arizona and sun protection in Botswana!
