If the dates of the Gourmet Wine Trail do not suit you are welcome on flexible centre based stays on the Cape Winelands Riding programme which offer great riding from the horses’ base and wine tasting at some of South Africa’s best wine estates.

The horses are a mix of different breeds including Thoroughbreds, Boerperd crosses, Nooitgedacht and Saddlebreds.

The riding is English style using comfortable trail saddles.

To best enjoy this ride you should be a confident rider, fit and capable at walk, trot and canter in open spaces.

Guest Review

Louis clearly loves his horses and they are very well cared for. The riding was lovely; there were opportunities to have the nice canters. The scenery is so breathtaking that it was also nice to be in walk and appreciate the beauty of the surroundings.

Ride Report

Lucy Downes
This ride is suitable for riders able to walk, trot and canter. They have a great range of horses suitable for different abilities and they are able to split groups to those who would like a faster or more relaxed pace. A big highlight of this ride is the wine and dining and you will eat out at a number of top wine estate and restaurants, accompanied by Louis or Ellen who can help decide which wine goes best with each dish.
