The landscape was great. My horse was really good, forward going and willing, and reliable. A bit more varied pace would have been good, though we did get to canter on the last day, I'd have loved more of that - but the paces all seemed fixed, perhaps because of the time-scales?

I had read the reviews so knew what to expect with the riding. There was a lot of riding on stony tracks, much of it at walk but this gave me the opportunity to admire the wonderful views. The guides, Jolene and Diana, were excellent - very knowledgeable about the island and nothing was too much trouble for them, including taking copious photos of me on the 4 different horses I rode that week (one of which, Conquistador, I could quite happily have brought home!). They looked after all the riders and were very safety conscious. Although much of the riding was at a relatively slow pace, the guides did include trots and canters (some of which were pretty fast) where the conditions and terrain allowed. The horses I rode were fit, forward going and mainly well schooled, but I did have problems with one horse whereby the only way I could stop him was to point his nose into the rump of the horse in front. The horses are all obviously very well cared for and loved. The tack was always clean, particularly the bridles and bits. One saddle though was not comfortable for me at all and I did get a blister in an "awkward place" (first time ever in my life from riding!). I was given a seat saver for the rest of the week which was a help. In future, I will take my own just in case! The stables and yard was clean and in good order.

The horses were first class. Clearly very well looked after and cared for. The riding was excellent. Good game viewing combined with fantastic scenery. It surpassed my expectations.
