South Africa - Wait A Little

Big Five Luxury Safari

Received on 14 April 2014

Posted by: Yorkshire girls "Amazing game viewing on beautifully schooled horses" The horses were beautifully cared for, fit, forward going, sure footed, calm around game and an absolute delight to ride. The tack was in immaculate condition and cleaned after every ride. The saddles we used were dressage saddles, they were very comfortable, but put me in a position which was quite tiring on my knees and hips after long hours in the saddle. Our guide removed some of the padding after a couple of days which helped enormously. The riding was not as fast as expected, which I actually appreciated, we had some lovely canters at a brisk pace, but not the very long ones mentioned in the brochures which I was slightly concerned about! There was a lot of walking through very dense bush with canters along lovely sandy tracks which wound through the area.

Tanzania - Singita Grumeti Safari

Singita Grumeti Explorer Safari

Received on 11 April 2014

The first impression we had was at the stables at Sasakwa and, although we had all our own boots, chaps, hats etc, the equipment available to loan was of the utmost quality - all Ariat products, polished and shining! Whilst riding we saw a great variety of animals from horseback - lions, hyenas, elephants, cheetah, buffalo, wildebeest, zebras and we nearly rode past a Serval which was hiding in a bush. We got up close to cheetahs, elephants, lots of lions and even lions feeding on a zebra, and even saw an African wild cat one evening from the Jeep during our sunset game viewing . Not to forget the bird life which was incredible - I've never seen so many different species of eagles! And of course all the other game - too many to name all of them! We decided on our last day that we would have to go back in order to see a leopard as we hadn't managed to see one, and that is still our intention - we will definitely be going back!!!

Spain - Sierra Nevada

Contraviesa Ride

Received on 11 April 2014

Posted by: Mary "a fabulous experience" The riding met my expectations. Horse willing, a great climber and sure-footed but I found him uncomfortable at some paces. It took me a while to learn how to lead him easily - my fault rather than his as I didn't like having to slap him back. My problem was exacerbated by the combination of varifocal spectacle lenses with steep, rocky ground. Once I had identified the problem and removed my glasses things went much better.
