Caron Floyd

Caron was bitten by the 'horse bug' during a gap year spent working towards British Horse Society exams and grooming for an event rider and has been involved with horses in one way or another ever since.

While at university, studying for a degree in American Studies, she was President of the Riding Club. She also spent six months living in the Mid-West of America.

Since joining In the Saddle in 2003 Caron has visited many of our rides around the world; Portugal, Tenerife, South Africa, Argentina, Kenya and Montana, South Dakota and Colorado in the US. Her favourites, if she had to choose, would be Kenya and Argentina.

Caron says 'When I stepped off the light aircraft at Ol Donyo Wuas I remember thinking that it was just as I imagined Africa to be - the Lion King theme was never far from my mind that week! While I was in Argentina I had some great riding across the pampas and I also really enjoyed the opportunity to visit Iguazu Falls which is definitely worth a few days.' Most recently she tried her hand at calf wrestling with the cowboys of South Dakota and Colorado. Caron says 'if someone had told me at the start of the week I would rope a calf from horseback and bring it into the next corral for branding I would not have believed them - but I did!
