These trails vary from four to seven nights and take you through the sheep and cattle stations surrounding Waitohi Downs. You ride over mountains, through valleys, alongside rivers and open tussock.
Your guides have lived and worked in this area most of their lives and have mustered sheep on many of the farms you ride over. Their local knowledge is vast and they are well equiped to show you this part of their world.
You stay in basic shearers huts or tents and really get an understanding of how life works on high county sheep stations.
Pack horses are used for carrying your luggage and supplies, although on the longer rides a support vehicle will meet you every few days with fresh supplies. There is, however, limited space for luggage and the luggage limit is 12 kgs which must be packed and rolled into your swag (provided).
We will always book you into the horse base at Waitohi Downs for the night before the ride and the night you get back. This allows for flexability if weather conditons hamper the ride.
